Default Parkland in the Southeast tell me more about it

Looking at moving there with the family. Just wondering if anyone could give me tips on the community and more importantly the commute. What is it like getting out of there? I will need to get to the belt line area just off of 17th avenue so I was thinking Blackfoot to Ogden? Also we have to drop the kids off at school off of Acadia and Southland, what is Acadia northbound like during the commute? Thanks for all tips. We are a bit worried cause the house we found is deeper in Parkland towards Fishcreek so I was wondering if all the outlets getting out of parkland are jammed in the AM?

Parkland is awesome. I live in Lake Bonavista, which is one community to the north, but I ride my bike along the ridge in Parkland almost daily. I've never seen anybody have any issues exiting the neighbourhood. If you have kids, you should look at Bonavista as you get basically the same location as Parkland, plus a lake. I have noticed you get more house for your money in Parkland, though.

Your Blackfoot plan is fine. Sometimes I take that to Heritage in the mornings. After work (say around five), Blackfoot from Heritage to Southland is slow as balls, though. I think this is because there is only one right hand turn onto Southland off of Blackfoot and it's a yield. Entering Blackfoot north from Southland is better as it is a dual turning lane.

From Parkland along Acadia to Southland is 100% issue free every day...that'll be the easiest part of your commute for sure.

If you are serious about the move, maybe do a trial run of the commute one weekday.

Rogers reception is hit and miss, especially towards the southern edge. Probably shouldn't be a factor in you moving there though.

x2 for Lake Bonavista, my parents live there and I grew up there. Great community and easy commute.

I love that area and will probably buy my next home there. I play soccer at Andrew Sibbald on Sundays and ride my bike through Parkland on my way to work and the area is simply beautiful.

Can't comment too much on the traffic but it can't be that bad with entrance and exit points at acadia, canyon meadows, and anderson right?

What time do you drop the kids off? Do you do this before work?
If you drop them off around 9 and then go downtown, the traffic isn't bad. Blackfoot has been the fastest option so far to get DT. We just moved to Bonavista and the husband has been trying different routes.

I like Bonavista because it's closer to the inlaws for babysitting and we have our own less crowded lake, but I heard skating in PL is pretty cool and you have Sikome (dirty/busy) right there.

Grew up in the hood (deer ridge) knew people in parkland. Most wore topsiders with no socks in winter, popped their collars and didn't drink BEER beer.

I would give it a miss.

Parkland is very nice, commute to DT doesnt take long at all. They are in the middle of updating Deer Valley mall so it should be very nice. It was long over due.

How about if you access 146th avenue (I think that's what it is in there) to Bow Bottom is it busy?

Parkland is so awesome. I ended up moving to Bonavista, but there was one house in Parkland right across from Fish Creek that sold before we could get in to look at it. Whenever I ride my bike past it I think it would have been the coolest thing ever to live right across the street from Fish Creek Park.

I lve in Parkland (since 1995) and I enjoy it very much. A nice quiet, clean area to live and raise a family.
