Default Ezra Levant: Jack Layton's still no saint

http://www.calgarysun.com/2012/08/23...still-no-saint

He comes across as a dick, and I've never like Ezra, but he makes some very good points throughout.

10 minute video, but worth watching.

You couldn't pay me enough money to listen to Ezra Lerant for 10 minutes. He makes Doh boy and Francis bearable to listen to on the radio.

You lost me here.

I am not a fan of anyone that lives in their parent's basement and makes a living from sueing people that have differing views to yours.

Why do you think he is no longer involved in politics?

When your thread title has the words "Ezra Levant" in it, you know its probably going to be a bunch of steaming garbage.

Like I said, I don't like him either, but watch the video and tell me what he's saying makes no sense.

NO the more hits and views that video gets, the more he will be encouraged, and that is a bad thing.

Describing his final letter to his family and friends being co-written by the NDP director of communications as... sick, is where I turned it off.

I guess I have to disagree with him then. His message was that Layton accomplished very little in his political life. He did two great things for Canada in the last election:

- His winning the official opposition status forced Ignatieff out of Canadian politics
- He convinced Quebec that voting for a national party was in their best interests.

He also brought us to a real 3 party system in Canada. While I disagree with a lot of the NDP's platforms; I do like having that other perspective to keep the gov't in check.

That was part of his message, but also that the media was portraying him to be something he wasn't which is true IMO.

The CBC especially he talked about and I rarely ever agree with Ezra, but I think what he said in this video was mostly true, but he could have toned down the d-bag factor a little bit.

CBC is going to show a 90 minute video about his life. I guess we'll have to wait and see if they actually talk about his life from all angles and not just the good NDP stuff.

Ezra definitely got stuffed in way too many lockers when he was younger. Wouldn't be surprised if he was the inspiration for the Hip's "38 Years Old"

The best thing Layton did was get his party elected as the official opposition to a majority government. That way the NDP is completely irrelevant versus actually having a say-so with a minority government.

Are you not familiar with Ezra? This would be impossible for this tobacco/oil industry shill.

The way the NDP is using the 1 year anniversary of his death to score political points is very low class.

The level of praise he got and is still getting it way overboard, he essentially got lucky that Quebec got tired of the Bloc and had no other French guy to vote for.

Except that song's about a guy being locked away for murder before he could get it on with girls.

Ezra's song should be the theme from Star Trek

Sorry for taking the thread a bit off course but the characterization of the NDP breakthrough in Quebec as validation of the NDP's lefty ideology / platform is a mirage. It was far more a product of Jack's personal appeal and the hyper fickle nature of the Quebec electorate. They'd vote for Communists or Martians if they were promised even more for even less. Jack 's legacy will forever be buffed by this mile wide but inch deep 'victory'. If Mulclair actually thinks he has a solid foundation in Quebec to build a national party he must be completely delusional.

He tries so hard to be the Glen Beck/Rush Limbaugh/Ann Coulter of Canada. I hate the guy.

I went to University with them. If Harper ever released the muzzle from Anders you would have a Levant 2.0.

and you guys wonder why i dislike the federal conservatives. There are not a legitimate party if Rob Anders is one of your MPs.

You must not be a supporter of any federal party if one MP can stop you from voting for them.
