I should drive home right now while there is no traffic able to come up from the south!

In all seriousness, I hope there wasn't a fatality or anything like that.

it's probably an animal running around on the road, last year a moose was running about and they had to shut down the exit into Country Hills/Hidden Valley Area for a while till they tranquilized it about an hour later.

As per QR77 an hour ago:

Crowchild at 17th ave SW has been closed off in both directions.

The police are doing some kind of a police investigation.

No further details were available at that time.

Well did the moose have a license? because if he did, I don't see the problem. Unless he wasn't wearing a helmet of course...

I spend an hour moving from 33 Ave to 17 Ave on Crowchild at lunch hour today, there were at least 7 cop cars in the 17th to Bow Trail area, with no accidents/EMS/Fire Dept. in sight. No idea what that was all about

Well if that is indeed the case then that is a very good reason to shut down crowchild.

Yah, that is what I heard as well from my girlfriend. She is at the children's hospital for the summer, and as far as she knew, it was someone that was threatening to throw themselves off one of the bridges.

I can only hope that everything turned out ok.

Yes a man did try to jump off a bridge. Apparently a police negotiator was called in and after about two hours, the man gave up his attempt to end is life.
