Got back yesterday after being away for 2 weeks for a ball trip and wedding. Just thought I'd throw a few comments out there in case anyone was interested.

First game we saw was the Angels and Mets at Shea Stadium. Had a few wobbly pops in the hours leading up to the game, so we were feeling no pain. Then, there happened to be about a 40 minute delay to the start of the game due to rain. Needless to say, after waiting that long, and having that many beer, my memory is a bit foggy. The game was no barn burner until near the end. The Mets were losing until they got an inside the park HR in the 8th, than Cliff Floyd hit a 3-run shot in the 10th to win it. Pretty cool stuff, considering one of my buddies is a huge Mets fan. Great ending. The Stadium itself is fairly boring. Nothing spectacular, we sat in the upper deck just inside the foul pole. OK seats, I guess. Had a pretzel and a hot dog. I think they were pretty good?

Next up, we went to see the Reds and Red Sox in Boston. One word............WOW. Now, THAT is what baseball is all about. Just a fantastic atmosphere all around, even taking the transit/subway to the game. Tons of jerseys and caps, just awesome. Got to Fenway, and what a beautiful field. Just immaculate, felt great being in center field, looking at the green monster, the 'Budweiser' sign in right field, everything was great about it. Nice pre-game ceremony, to boot. I guess it was the first time the Reds and Sox had played at Fenway since Carlton Fisk hit the infamous HR in 1975?? I believe. They had a big ceremony, Fisk threw out the first pitch. Pretty cool. The game itself was sorta boring, just because the Sox hammered them, I think it was 10-3. We sat half way up in center field, under the giant scoreboard. Place was sold out, fans were great, just an all around fantastic night. I was still hungover, so I only managed to have some fries and an Italian sausage. Oh, and a few Budweiser, of course.

Lastly, we saw the Cards and Jays in T.O. One word for this one.......BORING. The roof was closed because of some tornado action in southern Ontario, even though it was beautiful outside. So that wasn't a good start. There was virtually zero pre-game stuff, the place wasn't even close to sold out, and the Jays got demolished. We were at the game that Carpenter had a one-hitter and Walker had 2 HRs. Just the atmosphere itself was boring. Just nothing going on. Didn't help the Jays got killed and we just came from Fenway, either. Overall, just a really disappointing night.

In closing, I guess if were up to me, I would save some cash and go to Fenway again. Can't tell you how impressed I was with the whole stadium, the atmosphere, the fans. Awesome stuff.

sounds like fun, but....

you saw Walker hit 2 HR and Carpenter almost throw a no hitter and you were bored? Man, I would have loved being at that game!

Well, I'm a Jays fan, so seeing your team get destroyed isn't a barrel of laughs.

It was nice to see Walker hit his 2 HRs, I guess it just would have been nice to see the Jays put some runs up on the board to make a game of it. The game was over before it began.

Like I said before, we saw a great game at Shea, then went to an awesome park at Fenway, so going to Toronto and seeing a blowout in a stadium with virtually zero atmosphere was just a big let down to me.

I'm sure if the Jays game was the only one we saw, I would have been a lot more into it. Just didn't look good compared to the other two.
