Default Home Theater Speaker Question

Hoping someone can answer for me.

G/F's Sony HT crapped out - so nice thing is I have a nice A/V receiver she can use instead.

Problem is the Sony HT has these proprietary connections for the speakers.

Can I just cut off the end, and then use the wire like regular speaker wire with my receiver??

See crappy pics for what the connection looks like currently.

Thanks!

I'd bet a $100 bucks you can. a speaker is a speaker and its a positive and a negative... wires might not be marked, so you may have some troubles making sure your polarities are right.

Yeah that's what I was guessing too, just wanted to make sure

and Sony WAS nice in that on that connector end, they labelled the + and - so I will have polarities proper as well

Nevermind. Already been answered. Apparently I didn't refresh the thread soon enough.

A lot of these home theatres in a box are high current (6 ohms) so I'd check into the matching of your receiver to the speakers.
