Default Michigan cop, Nose Hill Gentlemen, praise Jesus!

I speculate they did not have good intentions when they approached in such an aggressive, disrespectful and menacing manner. I thank the Lord Jesus Christ they did not pull a weapon of some sort, but rather concluded it was in their best interest to leave us alone.

- If someone is going to murder you, small talk about the Stampede isn't how I imagine it starting.
- Other actions, instead of wishing he could shoot them and then writing a letter to the newspaper, could have been... I don't know... responding and moving on. Maybe that's just what us sissies here in Canada would do.
- If everyone in the Colorado theatre was allowed to pack heat, how'd the guy kill so many of them? Surely some hero would have prevented the massacre. Strange thing to bring up, and pretty crass to be honest.

Obviously not all Americans think this way, but it is pretty comical how he felt this was a serious enough incident to mock our gun laws because someone asked him a question on Nose Hill.

And... go.

All you have to do is read this article and you'll realize that the way Americans think about guns is plain wrong.

Two men, ask a question, apparently in an agressive manner and this incident makes you wish you had your hand gun on you? Why? so you can shoot them both in the face and then claim self-defence?

Americans truly are a special breed.

Yeah, I'm sure he felt uncomfortable but my guess is they were going to ask for money, oddly enough, his "confrontation" ended without incident, I mean isn't that the best result? No one got hurt.

Edit: Also, in case anyone is wondering, this was a letter to the Editor (the original link makes it seem like a news story).

Calgary Herald ‏@calgaryherald @corporatejay It was published as a letter to the editor. http://bit.ly/MhTNLf

HOW CAN YOU ASK THIS AGGRESSIVELY??
Based on the tone and verbiage of the letter, you can ask it aggressively by being black.

What puzzles me is, in my visits to the US or when I have chatted with them here, people always seemed very friendly, whether it was myself initiating conversation or them. Actually, being a bit of an introvert, I find Americans generally to be very outgoing and pleasant, which is refreshing to this quiet Northerner.

But clearly this guy sits on the fringe, but I'm sure he's not alone.

So a guy is approaced by two guys who ask a question that seems pretty simple and appropriate.
He, for some reason feels threatened, and despite not having a gun is able to "escape" this threatening situation unharmed, and completely without incident.
The guy even says they looked bewildered when he basically told them to f-off, kinda like two random dudes would seem after asking a fiendly question?????

This somehow equals a valid argument that he should have been able to be carrying a gun?
This totally boggles my mind how introducing a gun into that situation somehow makes it safer.

Edit: As someone who owns quite a few guns myself, I have to say people who think this is a good argument to allow anyone to carry a gun are exactly the kind of people who should NEVER be allowed to carry a gun.

I was debating starting a thread on this earlier, glad you did.

Some of the twitter banter about this is downright hilarious. Especially people latching onto his statement of:

Quote:
Gentleman. I have no need to talk with you, goodbye.
Has yielded gems like:

"Anne Robinson, I have no need to be told I am the Weakest Link. Goodbye."

"Been to the Peace Bridge yet?" "Gentlemen, I have no need to cross the river. Goodbye."

I can imagine two young males aggressively asking that, trying to act big and look intimidating, thinking that what they're doing is funny and not realizing how they appear to the couple they're aggressively asking. I've been through situations like that before when I was younger, and it's very annoying / can be dangerous if you don't know what their intentions are. However, that's no reason to hold on to a gun and pull it for the slimmest of reasons.

"I thank the Lord Jesus Christ they did not pull a weapon of some sort, but rather concluded it was in their best interest to leave us alone."

"Would we not expect a uniformed officer to pull his or her weapon to intercede in a life-or-death encounter to protect self, or another?"

Is this guy for real?! What's even scarier than a couple of guys asking you whether or not you've been to the Stampede is that this dude would pull a GUN on them for asking in a manner he deemed 'agressive'. THAT'S scary.

On a side note, I wonder if this guy supports George Zimmerman too. Threatening looking/sounding person - shoot first and figure it all out later.

The most disturbing thing about this story is that this guy is a cop back home.

I would love to hear a letter to the editor from the opposite perspective.

"So my buddy from Regina and I were up on Nose Hill having a few Pilsners in the grassland like home, eh, and we were thinking about going to the Stampede grounds later. On our way back we saw this guy who was watching us like we were up to no good. So I thought I'd lighten the mood by asking him about Stampede as he passed us. He got agitated and kept reaching to the side of his waist and kept grabbing air. He then muttered something about Jesus and guns and Obama and Canada or something. My buddy and I didn't know what to do and just stood there in shock. We didn't even have a chance to offer him a Pil."

Also, why would one travel so far to go hang out at Nose Hill Park? Do they not have vast boring expanses of dead grass in Michigan?
