JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Senior IS Integration Manager and working on the Fort Hills Project, you will provide leadership and be responsible for coordinating Telecommunication engineering efforts plus coordinating appropriate technical expertise necessary to effectively meet project objectives. The role is accountable for the planning and execution of quality, timely and cost effective execution of the engineering design, procurement and construction activities of the information technology scope, including commissioning and turnover to Operations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Interface directly with the engineering contractors to ensure that all designs meet the needs of project stakeholders (operations, corporate IS, maintenance and the construction group)
  • Provide oversight on contracts and PO's with support of engineering contractors and project functional teams
  • Provide input to project design by representing the project and IS at constructability reviews, model reviews, HAZOPS reviews and by reviewing detailed plans
  • Develop execution plans and scopes of work for various contracts related to assigned responsibilities
  • Contribute to IS budget estimates for the project
  • Approve IS technical architecture, standards and specification for use on the project
  • Review and approve detailed plans, work sequencing and resource loading plans
  • Review and approve Engineering Work Packages (EWP's) for constructability prior to being issued for construction
  • Represent Project and IS at bid review/evaluation meetings and conduct site tours required by the bid approval process
  • Coordinate resolution of design or construction deficiencies as identified from time to time during the construction and commissioning phase
  • Responsible for all necessary QA/QC inspections of field installations to ensure construction is compliant with applicable codes and standards including any Suncor specific practices
  • Responsible for completion of all pre-commissioning activities and compliance with commissioning and acceptance procedures
  • Ensure contractor compliance with IS standards, principles of SPIM, EH&S policies/p[practices and all applicable regulatory requirements
  • Identify and implement value improving practices and support continuous process improvement
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
  • Bsc. in Engineering or related discipline preferred
  • Minimum 5 years related experience including coordinating, overseeing EPC contractors and field construction activities
  • Member of APEGA or eligibility would be an asset
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge of current and emerging technology solutions and trends with demonstrated commitment to continuous development, keeping abreast of emerging technologies and best practices
  • Specific technology expertise includes fiber optic cabling, networking technology, network management, voice and data systems, 2-way radio systems, security and CCTV systems, data centre systems, monitoring and control systems
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with a broad range of stakeholders from Senior leaders to trades
  • Highly motivated self starter comfortable working in office and field construction environments
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Travel to construction site(s) as well as travel to or co-location with Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) contractor offices in Calgary and internationally
