Default February 8, just one game.

The Friday night solo game in the NHL is

at

http://www.nhl.com/ice/preview.htm?id=2012020153

The game is on the NHL Network in Canada and the USA. Canadian viewers will need Centre Ice to see this game in HD. This should be a pretty good game and Flames fans will be hoping the Ducks win in regulation time because the Stars are only three points up on the Flames.

The game started about fifteen minutes ago and the Stars have a 1-0 lead, goal scored by Daley. Enjoy!

It is now 2-0 Stars, both goals on the power play. Benn scored.

Staubitz got tossed for spearing (I didn't see it), but it will be interesting based on his rep if Shanahan hands out some additional supplementary discipline. Franzen speared Perron of the Blues last night and got off scot free.

Except of course for that whole 5 minute major thingy and a game misc.

What has happened that people think everything should be a suspension?

Well, I'll post Franzen's spear from last night (which he received a major for by the way) and you can be the judge. I know it's difficult to determine intent, but it certainly looks pretty nasty to me. It's interesting to note that he also speared Legwand of the Predators in last's year playoffs and I don't believe he was disciplined for that indiscretion either.

Yup - Fransen's spear is a match penalty and he should be suspended. Pretty open and shut.

I think this is the only night this season that 1 game is scheduled. I was hoping to hear the Ducks crew call the game but it was Stars' commentators instead. Not a bad game seeing 2 ageless wonders go at it, Jagr vs. Selanne. Jagr has a 2 goal career lead on Selanne, but both were held off the scoresheet. Dallas won 3-1 and Jonas Hiller was pulled after the 1st period with a lower body injury, Fasth took over. That was a spear Staubitz in the crotch area, ouch. FYI, the Lightning-Bruins 1 pm (11 MT) game start on Sat. will be delayed 6 hours due to the blizzard in Boston as a metre of snow has fallen!

Old news now, but you really have to wonder how "Canada"...you know, the nation that loves hockey, can't get the freakin' NHL Network in HD?
