You will become an expert in Crude Oil markets by collecting and analyzing detailed supply, demand, inventory, and price data and using it to develop proprietary market insights relevant to traders, marketers, and senior decision makers in. The Market Analysis and Research Team is a center of excellence for commodity forecasting, supporting the Supply and Trading Organization with timely, relevant and actionable market analysis and forecasts.

You Will Be Expected To:

• Develop the market expertise for North American crude oil markets with a focus on the US Gulf Coast, West Coast and East Coast (US and Canada)
• Research, document and track the US Gulf Coast oil market by developing a detailed understanding of the current and planned state of infrastructure (transportation, storage and refining), demand, production, stocks, imports, exports and flows
• Combine research, proprietary insights, and multiple data sources to model oil supply and demand fundamentals for the US Gulf Coast
• Synthesize knowledge of markets into forecasts for supply and demand and the associated impacts on location, time and grade differentials. Translate those predictions into actions that improve profitability, risk management and strategic decision making for us
• Compare forecasts with actual outcomes to understand differences and apply those insights to educate the organization and continually improve the forecasting process

Education and Experience:

• Post-secondary engineering, science, business, or economics degree with at least three years of related analytical experience
• Experience in oil and refined products fundamental analysis including supply, demand, inventory, modeling and price formation analysis
• Experience building, maintaining, analysing and evaluating large and complex data files
• Experience predicting short-term and long-term trends in markets

Skills and Knowledge:

• Knowledge of continental, regional and global oil markets, flows, trends, prices, participants and behavior
• Understanding of refinery configuration, operation, and optimisation
• Proven ability to make clear recommendations and form opinions without complete knowledge of the future
• Experience analysing waterborne markets with focus on the Atlantic basin an asset.
• Strong economic, mathematical, technical and statistics skills
• Proven ability to put ideas into clear and concise executive briefings and presentations
• Excellent written and verbal skills
