Default murder-suicide in calgary

cases like these really piss me off

http://newsroom.calgary.ca/pr/calgar...hs-239671.aspx

"
The autopsies of two people found deceased in the city’s northwest last night have been completed.

At approximately 9:45 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, police were called to a residence in the 3500 block of Varsity Drive N.W., where the bodies of an adult female and young male were found.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner completed the autopsies today, Friday, Oct. 12, 2012. The female has been identified as Yu-Mei LAI, 39, and the young male has been identified as Kevin LIU, 6, both of Calgary. It is believed they died on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012.

The cause of death for both the female and the male has been determined to be carbon monoxide poisoning. The manner of death for the female has been deemed suicide, while the manner of death for the boy has been determined to be homicide.

Out of respect for the family, details of the source of the carbon monoxide, and specifics surrounding the murder suicide won’t be released at this time.

LIU is Calgary’s 13th homicide of 2012."

These are always sad stories especially when young children are involved.

Very sad to hear of this. Suicide is a terrible thing, especially for those who are left behind.

A woman found dead in Calgary's northeast was being stalked by her ex-fiancé, according to the woman's aunt.

The body of Lacey Jones Mcknight, 20, was found in a car on Thursday around 10 p.m. MT near the 900 block of 112 Avenue N.E.

Nearby, police had to rescue a man in his late 20s attempting to hang himself off a bridge.

Wow, that is pretty sad.

Good find fotze...the police might not have even found that yet and you're right, that threat is pretty direct.

The mother of a young woman allegedly slain by an ex-boyfriend says she was sleepless for weeks and went to police repeatedly with fears for her daughter’s safety.
“Police did nothing,” Shelly Jones, the mother of Lacey Jones-McKnight said Friday.
“We phoned police for help. They did nothing, absolutely nothing, they said there was nothing they could do.”

Actually this is the worst part for police, if true

Quote:
At the police station, Jones said police urged her to keep quiet about her police criticism and she said they appeared more concerned with their public image.

“I’m very disgruntled beyond comprehension with their behaviour. Not just in the fact they did nothing to help her in those three weeks but even the way we were treated in the station last night. They were more concerned with whether I was going to go to the media than anything else,” said Jones. When police visited her in recent weeks, she said police told her they did not have sufficient evidence to lay charges.

“That was always their excuse but the guy physically broke in, busted up furniture and chased my daughter through the house. Rather than arrest him for that, they told him he had to leave,” said Jones.

When asked about the mother’s allegations regarding how their concerns were handled by officers, a police spokeswoman said that is a part of the homicide investigation. Police are reviewing their previous dealings with the family to see if there is anything they can learn from the case.

Just curious why some are assuming mental illness in this case...i mean from what i read there, guy is nothing but a heavy duty scumbag who had been terrorizing this poor girl and ultimately committed the biggest act against her as is possible.

Sometimes people are just pure evil and nothing to do with any mental illness....no idea which side this case falls under but from what little info is there...i have to believe the pitbull owning/house breaking/tire slashing guy is merely...a bad dude.

This guy is clearly unstable looking at his Tweets.

Judging by his threatening and ominous tweets, I wouldn't be surprised if he was the one who was trying to jump off the bridge.

And that's not mental illness?

A narcissistic loves himself too much to try suicide.

Reading the guys twitter, it's pretty clear he had his demons. I realize how trivial something like that may sound, but for a long time now it seems that every tweet was about his mental state and how he was coping with life.

I find that in cases like this, some people may jump the gun in making an observation that mental health could be a factor in why someone would do such a horrible thing, sometimes a spade is just a spade, but it can also be met with (not directing this at you) a lot of resentment, as if that person is siding with the murderer in all of this. Someone with mental health problems, is not innocent in every other aspect of his life. Clearly, as you said this guy lived a lifestyle, we could assume, that someone with a good heart would not. It's pretty clear he was calling for help for a long time, and the deeper down that rabbit hole you go, in terms of your mental well being, the darker and darker life gets if nobody is there to pull you out.

It's a tragic story to read. Clearly people could see this happening from a mile away and the police did nothing. It's tragic to think a mother could predict this was going to happen to her daughter, actively try to stop it and then have it happen.

Why would anyone even have twitter when they have like 20 followers. I would be embarrassed and not post anything.
