Default Digby NS things to see/do

Although I'm from PEI I have not spent any time in the Digby area. My wife and I are taking a 4 day break away while the kids are at grandparents house.

What are some highlights to see do while were there. Places to eat, etc, etc.

We are stopping at Hopewell Rocks on the way there.

Thanks

I've got tons of familly in Digby so I've been a couple times. First thing - Eat lots of scallops! It's the scallop capital for a reason, sooo good and abundant. There is lots of good fishing, you could hire a boat and go deep sea fishing or even just go down the the weir and catch fish easy.

Some of the beaches are scattered with clams and mussels, the lobster is great, if you can try to buy some from the reserve there. They have the biggest lobsters all the time.

You could even drive to annapolis for the day, it's a short drive and there is more shopping than digby. Digby's main street is pretty small but interesting and it's nice relaxing on the boardwalk.

The fairy leaves from Digby and goes to St. John New Brunswick, it's a short trip and you can take a vehicle. Usually you can see dolphins and whales on the trip and I think it only takes about an hour or two to cross.

They also have a pretty good golf course and a lot of historical sites and there are a lot of historical sites in annapolis as well.

I've only been through there once (last summer), we stayed at Digby Pines Resort. We drove down to Brier Island and went whale watching. It was awesome, saw something like 40 Humpbacks, 2 North Atlantic Right Whales (they are endangered) and 1 Pilot whale. The boat took us by a seal habitat on the way back and there had to be close to 400 seals in the water and on the rocks.

I don't remember where we ate but it was right on the boardwalk and was pretty good.

You can always time your visit around the Wharf Rat Rally - August 29 - September 2, 2012.
