Finally uploaded a couple photos of our property out in Okotoks. It's quite the mess out there, and we've spent the last few days cleaning up all the debris, finding the fences, pumping out and washing barns, as well as repairing culverts. Fun stuff.

The courtyard facing East at 4AM Saturday....note the dog standing on his house on the right hand side of the photo. His barking and the cattle bawling was what woke my parents up.

Another East facing shot at 4AM, where you can usually see a road and a small creek running through the property.

The rear porch of the house, taken at 4AM facing East.

Same spot facing South East. Usually there is a creek here, not a lake.

This is what it usually looks like.....this was taken yesterday afternoon.

This is the "creek" in front of the property, facing South-East taken on the road at around 1 or 2 Saturday afternoon.

Same location, facing North East.

Randon shot of the horse corral.

A shot of the creek that usually runs in front of the house. The wooden thing in the foreground is a swing.

......and the swing at normal water levels

and finally, a shot of the basement after about 6 hours of pumping. Anybody want to buy a used, slightly water damaged firearm???

Great pics, thanks for posting. Amazing to see how 'normal' everything looks already. Too bad about the house/firearms though

So can you cut us a deal on some cheap meat.

Crazy, it looks like Edmonton at first then Calgary a day later.
Cheap meat, eh?

I have a freezer FULL of AAA, organic Angus that is sitting there doing nothing. I get meat for Christmas, birthdays, special occasions, WHATEVER....... all the freakin time. My dad still hasn't figured out I'm a vegetarian and insists on sending me about a side of beef a year.

If you're sick of crap meat go to Costco or Co-op. As far as I know they're one of the few companies in town that carry AAA. I think Sunterra does as well, but they're a ripoff.

If you want the full flavoured, aged beef then go for the oldest one on the shelf (the one that looks brown and might smell funny). Let 'er sit in the freezer another few days, (maybe marinate it) then toss it on the grill and enjoy!! Remember to get the marbled cut (fat running through it) and when you cook it, only flip it once.

I don't eat beef but I cook a mean steak!

In an attept to get this thread back on topic

I live about 2 blocks away from the flooding in Red Deer. I can't imagine what you and your family are going through with cleaning all that stuff out, and getting rid of the water. I can tell you that I dropped a deuce when I heard that my area was a flood risk, and I'm in Calgary for the weekend.

I didn't get hit, thank godness, cause I'm on the north, higher up, side of the river. But it's damn crazy how close it is.

Oh, and I don't have insurance. But I am renting, so it would be personal belongings. My landlord was cool enough to go into my appartment and plug everything so that the sewer doesn't back up, and I have to clean waste out of my place.

Today, I will get insurance, and try to grab some pictures.

Insurance wouldn't cover it anyways.

Insurance only covers pipe leaks and the such, not natural disasters.

The only one you can cover against, although no one does in Alberta, is earthquakes.

The only exception is if the flood caused an explosion next to your house and that explosion destroyed everything - then it is covered!

Wicked eh?
lol...

Seriously though!

Insurance wouldn't cover anything but sewage backups in a flood, which is why government aid is going to be a huge deal in the next couple weeks. Not a bad idea to have some insurance on your belongings though.
