Default Fitting a mouth guard.

So here's a simple question that I am having a hard time getting an answer too. Just got my first mouth guard to play hockey with (injury from outside of hockey has forced the change). I have three problems. One; how snug I should have it (the part on my back two molars isn't snug to the teeth if my mouth is open). Two; will it still work if I am missing a tooth that has yet to be replaced. And three; if it will still work with a wire holding my teeth in place. I asked the guy who worked there and he seemed unsure about the latter two, and all I can find about the first one is that "it should be snug" but nothing beyond that.

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi(s)! You're my only hope.

It should be snug.
When fitting in a dentist office, people that have a high gag reflex get the back trimmed off anyways, so it's not a big deal about the back.
You will have to get a new one when you get the new tooth put in.
About the wire: I'm not sure what you're talking about? A spacer to hold the opening of the missing tooth?

No, the damage to my mouth caused the tooth next to the one lost to become loose and shift out of place. A wire was put in to hold that tooth in its regular place as it heals.
