Default GAME 2: STAMPS at Argonauts

Game Time: Saturday at 1pm

Are we going to see a repeat of last game? I hope so.. I don't see why not the way the Argos played against the Eskimos and the way the Stamps' defense dominated the game against the best QB in the CFL right now.

OFFENSE:
Henry Burris started his last game for the Red and White last season only to be pulled out of the game in favour of Drew Tate. Tate came off the bench and almost won the game for the Stamps. He threw 263 yards and 2 TDs. The only reason the Argos won was because the Stamps' D had a meltdown with the penalty parade that gave the Argos a chnace to win the game on field goal 31-29. That was the beginning of Tate as a starting QB for the Stamps. DT played well enough to win against the Alouettes last week. He threw a couple of INT but other than he was okay.
I hope to see a repeat performance by Nik Lewis. He showed the management last game the reason to re-sign him with good money soon. I love the TD where he leapt like Superman from 4 yard line.
R Marquay McDaniel might draw in the lineup ahead of Landan Talley. I thought McDaniel deserves to be in the lineup and definitely outplayed Talley in the pre-season. RB Jon Cornish won the Canadian Player of the Week after his performance vs Montreal. It looks like LaMarcus Coker will draw in the lineup on who's expense I am not sure yet.
The Offensive line as a group played well. C Mark Dewitt struggled a little bit but other than the group were solid giving Drew Tate lots of time and gave Cornish some big holes to run.

DEFENSE:
They stopped Anthony Calvillo's offense! The whole group played great. They stopped the run, they frustrate Calvillo and the DBs were awesome. Bennett was the big reason why the Stamps gave up Tisdale for practically nothing. I enjoyed watching Quincy Butler last season especially on his first game in the CFL against the Als last season. He proved his good play in his first CFL game was not a fluke. Against Toronto, they will face another good test against Ricky Ray's offense.

SPECIAL TEAM:
The special team group was okay and still improving. Punter Maver was okay and did his job but there is still room for improvement. Stamps still need a better blocking and hopefully we will see Larry Taylor in the endzone tomorrow. Special Teams will be tested as they will try to stop one of the best returner in the CFL in Chad Owens.

GO STAMPS GO!!

Larry Taylor needs to stop bouncing around and running sideways. He has the speed and needs to turn it up field more often.

I look forward to seeing the DBs actually tested and seeing how they respond. They did not have a tough game against Montreal.

I do expect the Stamps to win but am not expecting a blow out by any means.

Its early on to call it one but its a trap game for the Stamps. They have lost 9 of the last 11 games in Toronto, they played well last week, the Argos did not.

I still think the Stamps win but I have the feeling it will be very close.

I agree. I just saw two punt return returned for touchdown on Hamilton vs BC. Both Tim Brown and Chris Williams went to the seam and went straight. Both speed were incredible. I kind of missed seeing a Stamps player doing that TD return for a very long time.

Moreso than probably anytime since the 1991 Grey Cup, I hope Calgary somehow runs up the score this game against Toronto. Kick those late game FG's. Forego some FG's for TD's. Go for two points.

- For Jones, leaving in the middle of the night like a traitor, without even a courtesy call to the Stamps organization, against his defense.
- For Milanovich who illegally tampered to get Jones in the first place, while still under contract.
- For Barker, who denies knowing any of this and throwing his arms up in supposed naivity.
- For the league, who fined the Argos the equivalent of a used kleenex for all the inappropriate actions around the situation. The league too, who are desperately hoping that the home team gets in the 100th Grey Cup, in their home opener with probably the biggest crowd of the year, to watch them get worked over and embarrassed.

The whole Chris Jones situation was bizarre. He is a really nice guy so it seemed pretty out of character for him

Why are you guys complaining about Chris Jones? Our defence has been pretty pathetic the past few years. Good riddance and thank you Toronto for taking him off our hands!

St Pierre is long snapping as Randy Chevrier is a healthy scratch. Interesting to see if that's a smooth switch

Its not about Jones himself, its about the garbage way the Argos and Jones went about it, and the fart in the wind the league punished all involved, including the David Braley owned organization as a whole.

I don't mean to knock Burris too much, but I'm so used to being nervous on 2nd and long and expecting a poor pass or a throw into the ground.
I know the season is young, but Tate's passes just look so smooth and accurate. Let's hope he keeps it up.

How long until the names on the back on the white jersey turn back to white with black outlines, from the new black with white outlines?

Plus, no stripes on any of the pants (black, or now, white) make them look like leotards.
