I always assumed that the road rage nuts were never gonna bug me.
Today I was driving home from work, and I couldn't see around this slow pickup truck pulling a trailer. So I went around him in the next lane. He hit the gas, and so I had to get in front of him otherwise the lane I was now in turned off. So I hit the gas and squeeked in.
At the light when we stop, he gets out of his car, comes up to my open window yelling like a mad man, and procedes to hit me in the face. It was kind of a closed fist slap. Not a punch but not a slap. My window was open. What a fool I was.
Got his licence plate and told the cops. They are gonna come by tomorrow to get a statement and for me to fill out a report or whatever I need to do.
Does anyone have any advice, or gone through something ridiculous like this?

I am serious. It was such a weird thing to happen. Oh well, he'll sh*t a brick when the cops come to his door. That's all I really want. Too bad I won't be able to see his face. What a ******.

Oh and nice Incinerator. A little racially insensitive, but nice. [/QUOTE]
To be fair, Incinerator made no comment as to the race of Honda drivers, Snakeeye made the connection of cars with the drivers.
P.S. You're both right anyways!

My worst case of road rage happened in a school zone as well, on Elbow Drive near 5th street. Some arsehole was tailgating me and honking (didn't like the fact that I was doing the speed limit) so I rolled down my back window, fingered him and slowed down to about 20 in the 50 zone. He couldn't pass so he was losing his mind, and I was thouroughly enjoying watching a 45yr old man have a temper tantrum. As soon as I hit the school zone though, he pulled out into oncoming traffic, hammered the gas and passed me while fingering and yeling at me. Unfortunately for him the light went red, and he had to stop with me behind him.
I not so calmly got out of my truck, and threatened to kill him. The funny part was that he was blowing a gasket when I was going too slow, but was quiet as hell when he saw I was ready to haul him out of his car and beat the snot out of him for driving like a lunatic.
There are 2 things that REALLY make me mad when I drive. People who drive recklessly in a school zone, and people who act like they're made of steel while inside a vehicle. Just because you have door locks doesn't give you the right to finger and swear at people. Would you do it while walking on the street and not expect a slap to the ears? If I was walking downtown and someone walked in front of me, yelled at me and fingered me, I'd exchange words and probably belt the fool. What is it with vehicles that makes people feel invincible?

Redvan, I just want to verify something:
If I'm not mistaken (correct me if I'm wrong), it sounds like he was in the middle lane towing a (potentially heavy) trailer. You passed him on the right hand side(?), and then cut in front of him because the lane you were in was ending?
If the above was actually the case, then you were in the wrong, and instigated the event. I sometimes pull a holiday trailer, and you wouldn't believe how many people are inconsiderate (and cut off) of an 11,000+ pound object moving at 100 kph in the right hand lane. It has given me a whole new perspective and respect for semi drivers.
However, there is no excuse for anyone getting out of their vehicle and proceeding to punch another motorist...
edit: I missed the part about him also acccelerating.

Well for starters I think we have different definitions of "fingering", I consider it different from "giving the finger" so that makes your story, much more funny.

Too funny Fotze, now I can't read Tron's message without bursting out laughing

Any witnesses?? I don't think much can really happen as its your word against his.
Passing in the right lane? Shouldn't the slow moving vehicle be in the right lane to begin with? Passing him in the right lane does not make him in the wrong.
sWho cares what he did, speed etc, not signal. The dude assaulted him.
Anyone park in the parkade at 6th Ave and 6th Street? there is a resident A-hole who has road rage every other morning. The police can't do much about it.

Yeah, one time I was driving up Crowchild and there was this guy in this little red truck that was weaving in and out and trying to go fast, tailgating anyone in front of him regardless of lane, flashing his lights, etc etc.
I was in the second rightmost lane (the rightmost lane was exit to Memorial) and I wanted to get onto Memorial so I changed lanes.. about the same time this truck guy goes into that lane to try and speed past a few blocks worth of cars (anyone who's been in that area knows that the left lanes are backed up but that right lane stays empty because it goes onto Memorial).
Anyway, he finally catches up with me (I'm going at or just above the limit) and starts flashing his lights at me. I look at him in the rearview, shake my head, and keep doing what I'm doing.
Well rather than get back to continue down Crowchild, this guy follows me onto Memorial. When traffic allows, he pulls around me and I think great, this guy's gone. Nope, he pulls up beside me, leans over and rolls down his passenger side window, and starts yelling at me! My window was closed so I can't hear him, and I didn't even look at him but I had to laugh. Big mistake. Now he's just driving beside me and yelling more!
I use traffic and speed up a bit to put some distance between us, but he keeps changing lanes and cutting people off to try and get beside me again. Now I'm starting to worry. He keeps following me and right about the time I figure I shouldn't be going home and start thinking about calling the cops on my cell he finally gives up.
Not as severe as some here have experienced, but sure freaked me out.
