Default Need to buy a ceiling-mounted garage furnace today and have it installed by tomorrow

Do you think this is possible? Garage is 24' x 24' and I ran gas to it last year, so I just need to buy the furnace and have somebody put it in by end of day tomorrow.

Possible, yes.

But I don't think you'll get very far hoping to find an immediate installer on CP. Maybe try phoning around.

Not if you need a permit for the install.

Probably not, since you should get it permitted.

Why do you need it done tomorrow? Seems like if it has waited since last year when the gas went in without being an emergency you could probably wait another week...

How come you are allowed to advertise your business in your signature?

Who needs to be greased around here for that type of permission?

Yeah, this has been an ongoing theme for two months. It started with a new railing from upstairs to downstairs as I didn't like the original one from 1969.
  • Railing is done now...boy the stairs look like crap
  • If I'm going to redo the stairs, I may as well redo all the flooring in the basement
  • Been wanting to reno the bathroom downstairs, should probably do that before I do the floors
  • Will just do an econo bathroom as it's only a basement
  • I like that 6' long extra wide custom bathtub you have to speical order from BC
  • Ohhh, and that medicine cabinet is only available from Tennese? Okay.
  • Aaaaaand you need that vanity from New York to go with it
  • May as well get radiant floor heating
  • One piece toilets exist?! Okay, I'll take one of those
  • The old fireplace is going to look out of place since everything else will be new...let's tear down the old one and buy a new one with a new mantel, new rock, etc.
  • Guess we should get the painters in to paint the basement before the carpet comes
  • Screw it, new baseboards and door trim all around

Yeah, what started out as a $2,000 railing went completely insane. Spending $1500 randomly on a furnace so I'm comfy while I paint my baseboards and they dry nice is a drop in the bucket at this point haha.

Just a link to my website really, no different than a twitter/blog link? Perhaps I am wrong??

It is a fine line, I like to think I contribute to the community instead of hunting and bumping old threads just to advertise I do this type of work.

Also donuts.

permit, why. it is a gas furnace, what can possibly go wrong?

why not rent a portable unit from Home Depot to use for the day. then spend some time looking into purchasing the right unit for your needs.

I have a burner that mounts on a 20 lb propane tank that I use when I want to warm up my garage for projects.

A little cheaper than a $2k furnace.

Yeah I'll probably go this route as there isn't enough time to get a permit. Thanks guys.

My ex actually has a garage heater/fan that you can mount from the ceiling and runs on electricity.

Might not interest you as you just ran gas to your garage but she'd probably sell it pretty cheap and it'd be an easier install (ie) mount the thing and plug it in).

Let me know.

Thanks, but I'm already short on electricity in the garage as is. It has to be gas.

Just a FYI: if you're spraying them with lacquer then don't use an electric heater. It burns the lacquer in the air and causes your eyes to burn and will give you severe headaches.
