Default Fireworks

I am relatively new to Calgary, and wanted to find out where the best place to see fireworks in the city is.

I was just looking that up myself. They're shooting them off from the Centre St. Bridge this year. I'm not sure where the best location will be to watch them from. I'd say north of downtown with a clear view of downtown will be your best bets.

They start at 10:45.

Do they do them rain or shine?
There are some fantastic cloud rolling into town from the NW.

I think almost anywhere up on top of the hill north of downtown with a view of the centre street bridge is going to be great. I'll be up there shortly with my camera to hopefully grab some shots.

I am fairly certain that Airdrie just spent their entire annual city budget on fireworks. It was a great display with a beautiful lightning show in the background.

So we're talking $75-80 here?

Seriously, had I known they were being fired from the Centre St. bridge, I would have headed out with my camera.

Just watched them from the 4th floor, pretty cool with the lightning out east of there.

Heh, I'm getting a private show here in Chaparral. Two separate sets of what I'm assuming are kids/teens are setting off some. It's kinda nice actually. Hopefully no one loses a finger.

For the folks who dare to set off their own fireworks, where do they get them? As I understand, they are illegal within city limits aren't they?

I'm pretty naive to this sort of thing.

The closest I can think of would be Longview (for those that live on the south end of the city). It wouldn't be that much of a trek for some teens that wanted to have some fun.

I don't really know either. I thought they were illegal I most jurisdictions in Canada actually, not just urban areas. But I could be completely wrong.

I remember our Wolf Scout troope got to set off a bunch in Montana for the Fourth of July when I was 7 or so, but that was the only time I've ever been involved personally. Had a few of the usual firecrackers as a kid too, but always got them off friends, never knew where they got them from.

It was a great place to watch, but a terrible place to get out of by car when it was over. We got into our car at 11pm, and it was just after midnight when we got out of Rosedale.

There's a corner store in Crowsnest Pass that you can get them.

I really don't like fireworks. Especially when some jackasses set them off in a condo parking lot when I'm trying to sleep. Go to a park and set them off.

You used to be able to buy them in Okotoks, although that is going back a few years.

Do I even dare reply on how long it took us to walk back to our house?

I rode my bike, therefore home in 15 min after the fireworks were done, including crossing a bridge.
