I've always enjoyed this Guys Schtick on "The Score". I will definitely be checking out his sitcom tonight. The fact that it's a CBC production makes me a bit ....uh, ..I dunno....well, we'll see.
Anyone else looking forward to this?

I caught it on the Atlantic feed. I was disappointed by the pilot, but it's a pilot which are generally weak anyway.
They need to introduce the characters and relationships, set the premise for the series, etc.
I'm a fan of the secondary character casting:
Jonathan Torrens is the school's Vice-Principle
Bette MacDonald is the school's secretary
The "school" he teaches at is Citadel High in Halifax, which is right across from the CBC-TV station. I'm surprised they film in Halifax, but with his wife being from the greatest province in the dominion (actually from the greatest island anywhere) it shouldn't have come as that much of a shock to me.
Here's to the series taking off and becoming this decade's Corner Gas

I got through 5 minutes. I felt like I was just watching his schtick on The Score.

His schtick is definitely not as funny when he's being a prick to a bunch of kids

I can't stand his schtick at all. When he comes on the Score I just change the channel.
I really miss Cabbie on the Score.

I love his standup but I found his show pretty weak.
If I had to try and describe it, I'd call it forced. Gerry isnt being his comedic self, which is too bad as he used to be a teacher, you'd think this role would be perfect for him.

Did you notice his stand up was in the show quite a bit?
The talking "Chinese" to the girl, with her not knowing Chinese...He does a joke like that in his stand up.
His last name is Duncan...He calls a smart kid in his class "Duncan" in his stand up.
Not knowing what the Renaissance was and having the kids go home and write about it...He does this with the Mayan civilization in his stand up.
I think there was one or two more but I can't remember now.

Yeah, I noticed that. I've seen him live twice and he had an hour long show on CBC on the weekend.
The bad part about that is that these are jokes that I've heard already and it just continued to water-down the pilot. I'm reserving judgement until I've seen a few more episodes.

I'm in the same boat. I like Gerry Dee's standup, but the show was pretty weak and it sucks because its custom-made for him. I want to see him take it and run with it.

My cousin's husband, who is getting to be a pretty successful Canadian stand-up himself, helps write the show so I was excited to watch it.
My wife and I got through 5 minutes of it before we shut it off.

I know. I feel ridiculously emotionally invested for absolutely no reason and the show was grim. No matter how hard I want it to do well, if it sucks, it sucks.
Its very disappointing.

I did enjoy the part where he was talking to the girls from the other school and got busted. By far the funniest part of the show.

Second episode, again a little disappointing.
Its very awkward humour, but its not delivered very well.

I enjoyed last nights episode much more than the pilot, so it would seem to be getting better. I will continue to watch for now.

yep I agree, I think it's getting better. Still not great, but better.
Loved the fact that the Caper on the show totally sold her friend down the river for 2 for 1 drinks

I enjoy his stand-up quite a bit, but the show didn't do a lot for me. TV is tough... I have so much to watch that I'm not even caught up on. For me to add something else to the rotation requires a damn fine show. Sadly I don't think this one is going to make it in. All the best to Gerry though.
