Ottawa Girls, 15, Charged With Human Trafficking

In a shocking case believed to be a first in Canada, Ottawa police have charged two 15-year-old girls with forcing other girls into prostitution.

Police are seeking a third female suspect who is 17, making this alleged ring of pimps almost unheard of in its under-age, all-girl makeup.

Police allege the three victims, ranging in age from 13 to 17, were lured to a residence in a public housing development in southeast Ottawa on three separate occasions in May and June for what were billed as innocent social reasons, but then were driven to other locations for the purposes of prostitution.

Police have said there is no indication any men, or known pimps, or gang members or anyone else at all was involved.

This is... very odd and thoroughly disgusting. I feel awful for the girls who were the victims of this. The charges are human trafficking, robbery, procuring, forcible confinement, sexual assault, assault, uttering threats and abduction.

Hm...I think at some point they should have their names published after going to court. That is some ####ed up stuff, and is not your typical young person being stupid kinda crap. Really weird stuff.

Sorry guys but this is absoloutly typical, most of the group homes I worked at dealt with this from time to time, a girl would be sent into the group home or alternate school, rehab etc by their 'boyfriend'/dealer/pimp to recruit likely pre abused drug using girls.

Its the crack equivalent of a judas goat, the olny thing unusual about this is they dont seem to have really picked their targets that well or turned them out carefully, usually the girls just disappear and don't show up until arrested a year or so later.

Have to agree, I really don't find this all that surprising. Bunch of, probably older, guys convinced some girls to lure another girl into a forced sex type situation for cash.

Considering that according to the article, these suspects "face multiple charges including human trafficking, robbery, procuring, forcible confinement, sexual assault, assault, uttering threats and abduction", I doubt they'll get sent home with a "stern lecture".

Someone to take the fall for the real dealer/pimp. Typically a young kid who an adult dealer gets to mule/sell drugs since he won't face any real consequences.

True in this case, but the term origanally comes from farming, a judas goat was a goat that was used to lead the herd into a slaughterhouse but was spared itself, sheep and goats are very much herd animals, given a calm leading animal the rest follow meekly so they would train a goat to lead the others to their death!

I dont undertsand the part where the cops know full well the ring operated out of houses rented by adults and the girls were driven to other locations in cars by adults but still think we are stupid enough to believe them when they say there were no adults involved.

How do you know things that aren't in the newspaper while being three time zones away? Maybe you should apply to the Ottawa Police force since you know far more than the people they have working for them already!

A lifetime of working in group homes, jails and street programs teaches you a few things, one of the things it teaches you is the po po arnt that bright when it comes to dealing with either kids or prostitution, although in this case I think they are just covering their arses while they try to track down who was really in charge.
