Recommendations for New Bed with Removal of Old Bed
My senior mom wants a new bed. Sleep Country promised her that they would be able to take the old mattress and boxspring, and move the old frame to the garage, even though normally they don't deal with frames. The salesperson even dropped by a couple days earlier to see what was needed regarding the frame but didn't have any tools. He assured her at time of sale and when he stopped by that there would be no problem. I just got a desparate call from her that the delivery men were in the dark. Several back and forth phone calls just increased the frustration. At this point she just wants a refund.
Is there any place that will actually take the old bed apart when delivering a new one? Or is it common to expect everyone who wants a new bed to be able to dispose of their old one on their own? Not everyone is physically able, have the tools, or the room/vehicle to do so. And how do you coordinate removing the old one with one company on the same day that there's a delivery of a new bed? Do they expect her to sleep on the couch for a few days?
When I moved into a new place, the Brick delivery men put my bed together but there was a $100 tip and there was no existing bed to haul out. I suspect Sleep Country's policies are probably fairly common.
