Buying a (used) Minivan - Any slimy used car salepeople?
Apparently searching "used car" is impossible on CP, so a new thread it is!
I am in the market for a Dodge Grand Caravan, probably in the 2006-2009 range. Older might be ok, if mileage is low. Newer is a possibility, but it would depend on price. Really the only requirement other than that is it needs to have Stow-N-Go seating. Waiting on insurance payout from our van being written off, but once it does we need to get moving in a couple days before our rental goes bye.
I have looked at a few dealerships and private sale vans over the past few days, but thought I would give someone CP a chance. Since I am sure there are a few people around who fit the bill.

I have an 07 SXT sitting on my lot with leather, and I am pretty sure sto and go.
It is a little high on the K's (163,000), but I will blow it out for wholesale. We are asking 9950. For you my friend, $6500 + tax.

Go into the used tab and search for 'caravan', it is our only one. It won't let me link it for some reason.
It is actually very clean, and should have a few good years of service left in it. It is at least worth a look.
Northland Volkswagen, right on the corner, right on the price.

Just saw I have a 2009 Routan as well. You know, the VW minivan.... wink, wink, nudge *cough re-badged Chrysler cough*. 74,417 kms.
Would need about $18,000 for it. Would have CPO warranty, and financing from 0.9-4.9% depending on term.

Look at Siennas and Odysseys, too. They're better vehicles IMO.

The Grand Caravan's aren't bad, my parents swear buy them and they've had really good luck with them in terms of maintenance costs.

I know someone with a Caravan it's been a decent vehicle although the transmission is starting to do some strange things, it has about 150k on it. Why not get this Sienna, it comes with Toyota headphones you can't beat that.

haha, the model choice is the wife's and I don't care enough to try and change her mind. Our last one was going strong after 12 years so I can't really say no to that.
Thanks for the tips about Kijiji etc, we have pretty much considered everything there. Thought I would give some dealers here a chance.
Sent some PMs.

I think they are ok vehicles now. The tranny issues don't seem to be a big issue anymore, it only took them 25 years to figure out. I think they burn through brakes like a fatty burns through a bucket o' KFC though. That stow n go is a surprising piece of innovation from a domestic.

Took about a month for TD Insurance to finally write off our vehicle.
