Shadow Tint on Macloed and 46th (or something like that) or Tintmaster on 17th Ave SE. Both do a good job and have good pricing. And with regards to tinting the front windows...I have done it on my last few vehicles (Civics) and never had any issues. Keep in mind that someone outside of your vehicle should be able to clearly decipher the color of your shirt through the front windows, any darker and you will run the risk of having problems with cops.

Legally you're not allowed anything on the front side windows and windshield.
However in practice, what kipperfan said is what cops will follow, assuming you're not a dick...Otherwise they'll ticket you.

I've never been a dick to cops but I still dont seem to have any luck asking for warnings if they stop me for speeding or whatever..
Man that is surprising that all tints are illegal. I thought it was legal as long as they can identify you... but hey, that makes it cheaper for me.

I've done 2 cars at shadow tint and they do a fantastic job. The tint looks as good as the day I got it. No bubbles, easy to see out of, no wavy lines.
I have 20% all around. I've been ticketed once before. The cop told me his pet peeve was front window tint. He pulled me over specifically for that. I was going through a turning lane and he was in the lane next to the turning lane and followed me when he saw me.
You need to be a little bit wary, but I love it.

You don't need to tint the front windows to be thuggin' cool, just wear your hoody up at all times, even in the summer.

So what was the end result of this? Who was cheapest? I have an Audi A4 I'll be looking to get done near the end of the month.

I went to Tintmaster. They did a great job, it is very smooth, no bubbles, peeling, anything. They include a lifetime warranty and did 3 rears and 2 front for $260.
I would highly reccommend them.

I just recently got my 2010 impreza done by my one of my sisters friends new tinting company they started (PERFECT DARK). As of right now, they are doing a special for august. " "Perfect Dark August is now here, 10% off 3m and tint packages."
I did all 7 of my windows for $250.
They do an excellent job. I recommend you get yours done from them. Through, I believe they don't give you warranty if the tint goes bad.
Location: 3334 32nd Ave N.E (ARRIVE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY PLEASE)
Calgary, ABPhone:403.808.8228opened 10-6 everyday and closed on sundays. They are closed for the weekend of August 7 to do a show up in edmonton.

I wouldn't say they are reasonable at all. My brother has had 3 tint tickets in the last year, and his tint isn't even that dark. Clearly his fault though, but he would rather pay the tickets than remove it.
IMO having tints on your front windows is stupid because it just gives the cops a reason to pull you over any time they want.

+1. I've had four cars done there and they've always done a perfect job.

My best friend owns Tinting Illusions. If you want to go ahead I can sharpen that quote up for you.
Bear in mind I have been in the car business for 15 years, and with tint you do get what you pay for in most instances, and the higher end customers know it. You don't find out you got a crappy tint job usually for a couple years. Drive by Jarrod's shop any day and you will usually see something in the 1-200K range get done. There is a reason guys with really expensive cars trust him.
Also bear in mind there are a ton of fly by night tinters. Usually guys that don't have the capital tp start their own shops, or they work by appointment out of auto service bays and such. Most of them are trained by the big guys, and then take off and try and steal their dealer business by undercutting them. The problem is it only takes a couple grand to buy the materials and tools, and dealers want the guys to be mobile so the cars don't leave the lot.
To be unbiased, shadow tint, tintmaster, tinting illusions, and freestyle designs have all been around for a long time, and all have dedicated brick and mortar locations, so the chances they will be around if you have a coloration issue, or delamination issue is pretty good.

Along the lines of tinting... has anyone got 3M protection put on a new vehicle from one of these places? (Tinting Illusions / Shadow Tint / TheAutoProtectors / etc)
The Auto Protectors show pricing on their website that's pretty much identical as what it would cost me through the dealer (perhaps that's who they use?). Wondering if I can find a better deal elsewhere.
Also, anyone know if places give a deal for doing tinting + the 3M? The dealer doesn't, which I think is lame.

You have to call these guys up to get a discount. The web pricing is always higher than what you end up paying. It's weird, when I ask for a quote via email, I get a MSRP type of price. However, whenever I call them up, they always seem to offer a discount even before I ask for one. Shadow Tinting and the Auto Protectors offered straight up a 30% discount on protecting my bumper. Also these guys give a 5 year warranty on the film and its transferable.
Cheapest quote I got though was from The Auto Salon. I believe his quote was like 20% cheaper than the above two. I didn't got here cause he mumbling about not doing it in house but rather using a 3rd party to do the work.
