Hey guys,

I have a question about the iphone 4s. Sorry, I wasn't able to find my answers from previous threads.

I am planing to buy the 4s 16gb. I found a few for sale on Kijiji still sealed in original box (so not opened). However, they are locked with rogers. So is it possible to unlock the iphone 4s? Or should I just go buy it unlocked from apple?

Please help! Good/bad idea to buy from kijiji? (I will only buy new sealed iphone with original receipt). Can it be unlocked? (Lots of ads that say so, is it legit??). Or should just buy new unlocked?

Should be in tech talk, but I will answer. There is no unlock for iPhone 4s unless purchased from Apple unlocked. (there are stuff like gevey sim unlock but these aren't really good, just buy official unlocked)

I think as far as unlocking the 4S as of now your only choice is to get a "Gevey Sim" card and do it that way. Google it and it should explain what you need and what the procedure is. Good luck.

Thanks guys. That's what I was leaning towards. Should I just wait till the new iphone 5 come out to buy the 4s? Or it probs wont have a significant price drop?
And is it possible to buy an unlocked 4s in the States and use it in Canada? Probs the same price.

Be careful the new in box sale if you go that way.

I had my acct hijacked early this year and someone used it to get a new iPhone. It is apparently not uncommon. The phones never get activated so they can be sold as brand new in box (with a receipt) on places like kijiji.

The last two phone updates have seen the model previous drop by about $100 (on a contract, not sure about contract-free).
