Default Hang Gliding Accident....Or Murder?

For fotze..

http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Swa...562/story.html

So would the memory card still be useable once it makes it way out?

Between this and the spy in the duffle bag it seems like a lot of weird stuff is going on.

Obviously this video/photographic footage would be invaluable to the investigation, it will be interesting to see what they can recover from it once they get it .

My guess is he was negligent, which caused the woman to become detached and fall to her death. Freaking out (and maybe not thinking rationally), he swallows the video evidence.

Those types of memory are really durable. I bet that if they can "recover" it, it would still work.

I pity those poor cops who are on #### detail right now.

Well obviously he is guilty of something if he swallowed the thing. I agree with what Yen Men said.

I remember that Sky Diving School here in Calgary, a few years ago they had a woman plunge to her death, and the first thing that the instructor did was smash her altimeter that was supposed to fire her chute.

Sounds like the same thing here, the instructor knows that he did something wrong, but the truth will eventually come out . . . of his a$$

The CBC article had a little blurb about memory cards. They might be able to get data off of it.

Quote:
In tests, they've been dunked in coffee and Gatorade, put through a washing machine, frozen in a block of ice, boiled, run over by a skateboard and smothered in peanut butter — with no effect on the data. At the extreme end, files on several camera cards that were smashed with a sledgehammer or nailed to a tree were still recoverable. Compact flash cards have endured the explosive demolition of a Missouri bridge and even the destruction of the World Trade Center on 9/11. So, with Orders in custody, it's a waiting game to see when the card he is alleged to have swallowed might turn up.

goota feel sorry for the boyfriend as he had to watch it happen.......one would ahve to assume that there is something on the card that is not flattering for the instructor otherwise, why would he eat it.......

as an aside, thanks to my son leaving DS games in his pockets, they have gone in and come out of the washing machine in working order, so I'd imagine a memory card would survive a trip thru the choclate starfish

This type of action screws up the families of the victim. In this case they will always be guessing what went wrong. They can not trust the word of this man who caused their love one to die and then tried to cover it up.
So even if he fesses up in court, they will always assume there is more to the story.

Speaking from personal experience. My niece died in a daycare. The guy who was looking after her killed himself before the investigation really got started. So, after messing my family up he went and destroyed his own family. Rather than the guy manning up and help us out we are stuck wondering what really happened.

I hope that the video evidence is recovered so that family can move on and deal with this tragedy.

Indeed - I believe he was the one that purchased the experience for her as a gift.

My guess is that something caused her to slip out (either she wasn't strapped in properly or she had a freak out) and it was going jeopardize both of them so he let her go.

I don't know how hard you're strapped into it, but from everything I've heard it sounded like she slipped out and grabbed onto the pilot all the way down.

I guess the question that I would have would be did she slide out of the harness? Or did the Harness go with her?

There is a series of quick release straps maybe she wasn't done up properly.

How is he obviously guitly of something if we don't know if he is yet or not. That is why they are investigating the matter. Glad you're not the judge, jury, and executioner.

I would say, it is very possible and in need of further investigation.

At the very least there's probably a tampering with evidence charge they could lay on him, no? I mean I doubt he just thought the memory card would make a good snack.

There probably is a locking carbeener that attaches her to the instructor or hang glider. That could have not benn tightened properly and come open as well.

I would bet against murder which implies intent as if he was planning on killing someone he wouldnt have taped it.

So it probably varies between manslaughter, criminal negligance, or perhaps just civily liable or perhaps nothing other than obstruction.
