Default Fishing in Kananaskis near Mount Kidd Campground

Camping at Mount Kidd in July with 7 other families. Anyone know some good fishing spots we can take the kids?

Not looking for flyfishing places, more easy places where we can sit/stand on the bank and put floats on the kids rods and hope for the best.

Walking distance from the campground would be awesome but not sure if possible.

Thanks

Wow, I haven't been to Mount Kidd for what feels like 20 years. Always had a great time there as a kid but that was probably due to it being the only campground I know with an arcade.

I know that there were a few nice creeks right beside the campground you could reach by hiking or biking in minutes but they seemed to shallow to fish.

All I know about catching fish usually involves a trip to the grocery store; however there is one spot that might just work for you.

We were staying in loop B; and about 350 metres NW of our campsite there was a fast moving creek. At one point it looks like there was another creek that branched off, but is now blocked by rocks. The "rockslide" looks to be man-made; and has created a huge pool of water that could easily be for what you are looking for; a place to put floats into the water.

I just tried to look on Google Maps and it doesn't show the creek. And how I know it is 350 metres away is I was showing the kids how to use the GPS to navigate in the woods.

Lillian Lake stocks that pond and it looks like it's always good fishing. It's a bit of a hike in, but definitely worth it, and they have nice day use facilities too.
