Default Eastern Conference Final Preview

(6) Montreal vs. (2) Ottawa

Head to Head:

Day 25: Montreal 4 Ottawa 1: Harding with the win

Day 28: Ottawa 3 Montreal 2 (SO): Hanzal with the sole SO goal in 5 rounds

Day 94: Ottawa 6 Montreal 5: Krejci with the hattrick in a battle of the backups

Day 148: Montreal 4 Ottawa 2: Rinne for the win

Day 151: Ottawa 5 Montreal 3: Krejci another 3 point game.

Looks to be a real good matchup. Krejci is very dangerous in spurts...He only got 1 point in the other three games. Montreal's scoring was pretty well spread out.

Playoff leaders:

Montreal:

Alexander Semin and Anze Kopitar: 11 points each
Matt Moulson and Patrick Marleau: 10 points each
Pekka Rinne: 8-2-1, 0.934 Sv%, 2.32 GAA, 3 first star performances

Ottawa:

David Krejci: 14 points
Eric Staal: 12 points
Vincent Lecavalier and Marc Savard: 10 points each (8 goals for Vinny)
Marc-Andre Fleury: 7-1-0, 0.924 Sv%, 2.43 GAA
Curtis McElhinney: 1-1-0, 0.928 Sv%, 2.50 GAA

Ottawa is showing some signs of fatigue, but that will likely be cleared up due to the extra day off they've earned themselves.

IR:
Montreal: Drew Stafford might be available late in the series
Ottawa: James van Riemsdyk should be back a bit earlier.

It will be very nice to have a conference final without hearing the American national anthem.

It will also be very nice to only have 200 km between cities, compared to 3,500+ km between Columbus and Anaheim. Here's hoping for a long Western Conference final with an exhausted victor for the winner of the East to walk over, whomever that may be.

I'm sticking with the Sens to go all the way, but it should be a close one!

Come on Habs...three in a row! If the Ducks and Habs make it, it'll be a replay of two years ago.
