Default What is there to do in Calgary for fun?

Honest question....what is it that you do for fun around here? Now with the Flames eliminated, the hockey won't be as interesting.

Walk back and forth across the Peace Bridge!

Seriously though, summertime in Calgary is awesome if you like being outside. Make use of living in one of the sunniest cities in north america. Sign up for a sports league, go hiking either in the local parks or up in the mountains, spend countless hours on pub patios. Those activities, combined with a few more domesticated things like gardening and working in my garage are how I plan on spending my summer.

The Calgary and southern Alberta area is an amazing place to be in the summer.

Are you looking west, see those? Head there.

April and May are two of toughest months for outdoor activities. Skiing is crappy now and there is still too much snow to really start the biking hiking season. However it is the perfect time to start drinking beer on patios if you can find them open. They arent crowded yet, it isnt to warm. And it feels like kicking off summer early.

Rodeos, tractor pulls, jumping cars over haybails. Basically any activity that is stereotypically associated with Albertans.

Head to Fish Creek or Nose Hill or Glenmore Reservoir for some biking, jogging, fresh air. Chase a deer!

Hit up downtown on the weekend and try to find a new watering hole, try a new restaurant, and search out some local music. Stop at a patio of the weather is nice.

Golf season is starting and there are lots of courses in and out of the city.

The underground movie festival will be on us soon. Same with spoken word festival. And the Comic Expo.

Shoot, here's a list of Spring festivals in Calgary.

As MMF said, the mountains are there, beckoning.

Join the sport and social club, play some sports, meet some girls, drink some beer.

Brand new science center has been built, maybe it's more for kids, but probably fun to check out once.

Zoo, Heritage Park, not my things but many like them.

LOTS of things to do in Calgary.

Float down the Elbow river, then go to Tubby Dog for an A-Bomb, a cold beer, and some retro arcade games.
