Why would we? We don't get first dibs on concerts or other sporting events. Unless it's hockey related and interferes with the Flames. (i.e. World Juniors).
I assume box holders still have normal ticket buying privileges, but don't Avison Young Club members have rights to purchase these tickets as well, or are those only certain events?

It's possible, when the Rolling Stones rolled through the Flames said I could purchase tickets before they went on sale to the public. So it's not unprecedented.

UFC Fight Club members get first dibs on tickets because it what they buy into the Fight Club for along with a few other perks. Season ticket holders get seasons tickets to the Flames because it's what they pay for.
Thankfully the UFC tries to be fair to its fans as much as it can, it recognizes they would be nowhere with out them.
That would stupid if they choose to do that... the real fans would purchase fight club membership making it fair (anyone can buy the membership) for every one who actually have been anticipating the UFC to be in Calgary for years, not days after the announcement.

I noted that Dana white stated how this event is worth tens of millions to Calvary. I thought it seemed like a lot, but if 15,000 folks come in from out of town and spend about $670 each that is $10,000,000.....
Plus those people who come in from out of town need to stay some where. Plus having an event @ the Dome isn't free. Plus the people drinking at various pubs/bars costs money. Plus if they have a Fan Expo that will bring in money. Plus advertising and PPV revenue.
