I think he forgot he doesn't have as much rotor lift at that altitude as he does lower down, hence the inability to pull out of the dive in time. Looks like its up in a high mountain pass.

Amazing he missed all those guys standing there.

I'll have to try that in a Bell Ranger on Mt. Ranier on Microsoft Flight Simulator.
