Default Sportsnet World HD now on Shaw

Shaw seems to have recently added Sportsnet World HD to its lineup. It's on channel 254 in Calgary.

To add... for those with the older Motorola boxes, the channel will not get video. The older boxes are not capable of mpeg4, which Sportsnet World HD requires.

I'm getting audio only, no video, and I have a pretty old box.

That is pretty awesome. I wish more of the coverage was live, but I guess you take what you can get. (Looking at the Six Nations rugby which has a game tomorrow that airs on Monday)

They also moved TSN, TSN2, and all the Sportsnet channels to the first tier of HD at some point.

And started charging more for HD too if I recall reading my last bill correctly.

I really need to start paying attention to this more instead of just paying for it...what are the tiers up to now?

I have all the HD at my place of course, but at the gf's she only has the basic HD, and I noticed the TSN/Sportsnet channels moving to the first tier there.

Don't quote me, but I think one of the tier's went up 4 bucks. It's only 4 bucks I guess, but it all adds up.

There was a price bump in November but didn't affect those with the Shaw Personalizer. Do you have the personalizer plan?

This channel would be perfect for Aussie Football, to bad TSN has the rights and we get a whopping 1 game per week.

Awesome news

Must be on free preview right now as SD Sportsnet World as $15/mo. Used to be Setanta iirc.

I really wish we didn't have to pay for the standard crappy low-def channels, and could completely personalize the channels we want.

I have been looking for the AFL matches on TSN (I know that the season has just started), but I haven't seen anything on TSN or TSN2 in my listings. Do you know any info about TSN's coverage this season?

You're quite right - Sportsnet World would be perfect for AFL matches. I'm looking forward to IPL cricket starting up again soon.

Edit: It appears that I'm a few weeks too early. The season starts right at the end of March!

So it appears that the free preview for Sportsnet World HD is over already. I thought that I had read somewhere that it would be through the end of March, but I may have assumed/imagined that. Can anyone else get the channel right now?
