Default Installing Windows on Home - require rough estimate

I have just conditionally purchased a home and the home inspector recommends two of the bedroom windows be replaced due to water leakage and possible damage to the frame.

Can someone please provide a ball-park estimate of what the installation would cost?

The dimensions of the window are 66 x 36.

I've already priced the windows out at Home Depot to be between $320 and $360 each depending on the eco level.

The thing about home inspectors is that they often find a problem so that they can tell you about it in some kind of effort to justify the $400 you're paying them.

I actually trust this guy. It has recently been made illegal in Alberta for home inspectors to give an estimated cost of repair/replacement on anything they find.

Has someone replaced windows recently through a contractor? What type of cost can I expect?

Need a lot more detail to be of any help. Are you replacing just the glazed units (glass) or the entire window (frame). Simple installation should only be a couple hundred per unit but it can be hard to get drop in replacements off the shelf. Then there is tying into the siding (vinyl, stucco??)

As far as the inspector windows are pretty easy to inspect. I wouldn't suspect he's making anything up.

Cant help with your original question but checking for water ingress around windows is pretty easy. Just look for swelling in the frame and drywall around the windows. The swelling indicates water damage.

I would probably just get quotes from a few contractors

It's usually the cost of the window without any alterations. So just double your price.
