Default Car Collides Head-on with C-Train on 7 Ave

Very serious injuries after an SUV ran a red light at 7 Ave and Macleod. Thoughts are with all involved.

Quote:
A serious crash between a vehicle and a CTrain car forced the temporary closure of the downtown LRT line on Tuesday night. It happened just after 6 p.m. on the LRT line near City Hall, at northbound Macleod Trail and 7th Avenue. The driver of a SUV went through a red light and hit a train. The vehicle was wedged between two CTrain cars, with the majority of damage on the passenger side of the vehicle. Fire crews had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate the female passenger from the vehicle. She was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Sure, a subway would be nice but it would have been much more expensive to build the entire system underground than it was to build the majority above ground.

You're right.

We need people that pay attention while driving.

How the hell did they hit head on exactly? Ok, fine, you turn down 7th by mistake. It happens. But you don't see the massive train heading straight for you and hit the brakes?

Maybe it got rear ended by one train and shoved into the other?

Those c-trains are so sneaky, out of no where, bam, right in front of you.

Or the vehicle hit one train first and then spins or slides into path of 2nd oncoming train.

But yeah, the 2 trains involved sounds odd. Damn unlucky if that is the case.

Trains generally aren't moving too fast downtown... imagine if one of those flying down 36 St hit something. Get the fata out the way.

I just got back from downtown.

Was standing on the corner and saw the whole thing.

I think she lost both her legs. Most terrifying scream I've ever heard in my life.

She ran the red light at 7th and Macleod. Drilled the Westbound train then got clipped by the Somerset line.

The driver or passenger?... sounds like it took a long time to get passenger out.

Getting passenger out. Looks like they had to cut the entire roof off.

It would be way harder to have to pull the car out of the tunnel.
