Icon40 Loui come home!

After being humiliated against the division rival Devils the Pens decided it was time to make a change and bring back an old face. Loui Eriksson is heading back to the team he started the season on. After putting up 27 points in 37 games Eriksson was shipped away in the deal to bring in Steven Stamkos.

Here are the highlights of the press conference announcing the trade:

Nick Kyperos (Sportsnet) - What makes you want to bring back a player after trading him once already this season?

GM Goffie: - Well Loui is a guy we never wanted to leave, he is a great all around talent and we think that he will fit into our top 6 so nicely.

Pierre Mcguire (NBC) - Loui you have lost your game in Columbus being held of the score sheet in every game; how do you expect to get your groove back here?

Loui:Well everyone loses their groove in Columbus, the team is a carousel of players moving in and out. We won a lot of games when I was there, but that doesn't appear to matter in Columbus.

Darren Dreger (TSN)- You seemed to have filled in a major hole in your lineup. Will we see any more deals in Pittsburgh before the deadline?

GM Goffie: No Comment

Darren Dreger (TSN) - Are the Pens going for it this year?

GM Goffie: The Pens go for it every year and we will do whatever it takes to first make the playoffs and then win in the playoffs. ...No further questions.

Look for Loui to debate on a line with Steven Stamkos when the Pens hit the ice tomorrow.

I dont think Loui will do very good with Stamkos if all he does is debate!

To Pitts: Loui Eriksson

To Columbus: Chris Stewart, 2012 1st(nyr) and 2012 2nd(bos)

Basically Loui Eriksson is a bum who can't score on a wicked team. So we didn't see the point of having him here if he wasn't going to do anything. We are happy to bring back Chris Stewart while his value is at an all time low and we also brought in the current 11th overall pick and a 2nd in the draft this year.

We thank Goffie for the trade and are happy to have the scoreless wonder off my 2nd line. Expect Ryan Callahan to get bumped up to the 2nd while Stewart will see time on the 3rd line, the PP and on the shootout.

Like this deal a lot for Pittsburgh, although it could end up good for Dave if Stewart returns to form and he drafts very well.

I did!

We still think Stewart is a top line player and one off year doesn't make him crap. We'll take him while his value is low which should translate into an excellent RFA deal. We understand the value of 1st round picks and the value of those will only increase. The bottom line is that we already have better players than Eriksson and he really isnt a guy we wanted to give top RFA dollars towards.

Goffie gets the best player and Eriksson will probably play very well there but he didn't do anything for me, a waste of roster space and really didn't add anything to my lineup. We'll take two assets we like and move on.

We like what we got back in this deal a lot more than what we gave up to acquire Eriksson in the first place.
