WSOP Fantasy League

I've been perusing a few poker forums and have noticed the odd WSOP fantasy league popping up here and there.

Of course, I immediately thought of having one on CPuck, and I'd be glad to referee the thing if enough people are interested.

I've definitely caught the poker bug and I'm sure many of you out there have as well, and I think this'd be a lot of fun. So come up with your list and let's have some fun!

Here's the rules (stolen directly from fullcontactpoker.com):

Objective: Pick any 20 poker players you wish and rank them
from #1 to #20. Each time one of your selected players makes
the final 16 in a tournament, he/she will recieve a point
value based on his/or her finish. You can only enter one team.

Point System: If you are familiar with the Commerce's point
system, this will be the same with one exception: If the
tournament pays LESS than 16 places, only the players who
made the money will recieve points.

Ranking system: With so many teams having duplicate picks,
the ranking system adds even more strategy and fun to the
pool. Your point total for any given player will depend on
their finish multiplied by the spot you ranked them.
EXAMPLE: Say you had John Juanda ranked #4 on your team, and
he won the first tournament. You'd get 50 points for the win,
multiplied by 17 for his rank for a total of 850 points.
The ranking values are as follows:

Rank Multiple
1 20
2 19
3 18
4 17
5 16 ... and so on.

Events: All WSOP events will count towards the total with
these exceptions:
Casino Employees Limit Hold'em
Senior's No Limit Hold'em
Ladies 1/2 Hold'em 1/2 Stud
Media Charity No Limit Hold'em
Also, the final WSOP championship will be worth DOUBLE points.

So, if you want your team to be eligible to receive points right from day 1, you need to have your list posted by 11 AM MST on June 3, which is next Friday. Entries posted after that will be eligible for points in all the events starting the day after the post is made.

Wouldnt it be better if we PM you are picks if you are gonna be the ref and then you can post them after the deadline, I just think that makes more sense

Is there any way to get a list of active players who would be in the tournies? I could name about 10 off the top of my head, but after that I'd have a tough time.

OK, we have enough guys to make this a go. Feel free to post your list and any time, and also know that you can edit it all you want until Friday.

As for who will be in each tourney, I don't think anybody knows that yet. I don't think some of the players even know which tourneys they will and will not enter. That said, here's a few useful links to help compile your list:

Also, if you don't want other people to see your list before the deadline, go ahead and PM it to me. If you want to post it so that everyone can see, you can just add it in this thread. I think everyone's lists and the rankings of the players will be so different that it won't matter too much if you keep them secret or not, but it's entirely up to you.

Thanks, and I'm not so much a fan of Ferguson as I am confident in his tournament skills. He's always in the player of the year race and if Negreanu weren't getting married soon which will sway his attention some, he'd be #1 since he's won the POTY and been in contention for years.
