Granted, the translation isn't always perfect, but it is still there.

I'm pretty sure that's the service thats used when you currently click "translate this page" when your query returns a non-English page, which translates pages in the traditional way. The translation in the link is dramatically different than that.

Yup, if you check the article it gives a demo of the current translator doing a shinguardty job, and how the new one will get it right.

I keep telling people Google wants to take over the world but no one belives me.

I mean I use Google all day long now. Search, groups, images, MAPS...

Google really understands how to leverage huge masses of data and turn it into something useful.

The cool thing is how everything ties back into their search technology.

You can type a name in maps which google will search and find the address of
The translator would essentially be using searching algorithms to translated
Gmail indexes your email for easy searching.

Cool stuff.

And people dont even use the word "search" anymore, it's just "ok lemme google that" "let's google it" "I'm gonna google it" all the time, it's turned into a verb now.
