Default Worth repairing a new rust spot

I could use the wisdom of CP on here...

I bought a used car for about $8k and plan to keep it for 12-24 months. The body is in very good/excellent shape...however I noticed a small rust bubble beginning at the rear wheel well.

Is it cost effective to address this now? Will the cost of fixing it and stopping the spread of the rust worth it upon resale?

Thoughts?

I might look into fixing it now, if it is a bubble it will get worse over the rest of the winter.

If you don't like the price to fix it, you could leave it, or try something yourself.

In two years your $8k purchase may sell for $3k......

Pics would be extremely helpful. If it is surface rust, the fix is to remove as much of the corrosion as you can, and blob some touchup paint on it. If the rust is going through the metal, the only proper repair is to remove the rusted area and replace it.

A fellow Mazda owner I take it? Is it just surface rust, or is there some bubbling/damage? Depending on what stage it's at, you might be screwed.

I have some around the wheel well and on the rear hatch, and I'm leaving it be. I asked around, and there's no real way to fix it apart from getting a new hatch, and I'm not about to spend 1500k on a 4k car.

I'd fix it asap. The used car that I bought came from a dealership and they fixed a similiar problem and it hasn't spread in 3 years. I can only imagine how nasty it would have got had they just left it. I think it would have effected the re-sale value a lot more than the cost to fix. Just my opinion.

Its an Acura CL...and its very minor now...the only tricky part is that it is also along a seam between the body and the bumper...

I'll try to get some pics...

But I am definitely going to get an estimate on it...as it takes a pretty much flawless car and could make it look crappy
