Default Wholesale Coffee for Charity

Cue sales pitch.......... I'm throwing this out there for all the Java fiends of CP.

I am attaching a web link to an e-commerce site that I have set up as part of my practicum in completing my Bachelor of Commerce. I have entered into a charity based, online venture challenge with 30 other students where we handle the retail operations of a business start up, with all profits we generate donated to a registered Canadian charity of my choice.

For our company we have partnered with a local Calgarian coffee roaster. They have graciously offered us a number of different coffee products at some EXCELLENT prices. These products normally retail at 40% higher than what we have them listed at on our site. These include an Organic Tima whole bean, which is the same bean that is found in a popular Organic grocery store around the city at a MUCH higher price.

The charity I have chosen to support is the Cano Palma Biological station, a REGISTERED not for profit organization based in Toronto. The CPB station supports Costa Rican deforestation studies, and helps to educate locals on rain forest awareness. As a frequent traveler to Costa Rica, it is something that means a great deal to me.

For all orders through the city I can arrange pick up, or have them sent through Canada Post (for a fee). For any orders outside of the city please contact me directly for a shipping rate.

We currently only process payments on the site through paypal, but I can arrange other forms if needed.

Bulk orders can be accommodated (5lbs and above) for a discounted rate (email us).

At the very least, have a look at our site and post feedback. I'm a rookie at e-commerce, so any suggestions from the hordes on here would be appreciated.

I don't do coffee, but I took a look at the website.

Looks decent, layout is good.

First impressions:

Your pics in the Contact Us are really big and a bit scary. Maybe make them a lot smaller and left align them to the text. You could also get new pics taken that looked like they were taken with the purpose of being there, rather than just taken from whatever was handy on Facebook.

It wasn't apparently clear where I should go to buy coffee. I mean it says Coffee, but doesn't indicate that's where to go to buy it. Maybe rewording the link might help that?

There is no indication when you click on the Add to Cart button that it has added the item. You can scroll up and check the number of items after each click, but there should maybe be some confirmation text perhaps?

You don't indicate anywhere that you are using paypal for checkout. It adds a bit of trust (albiet possibly misplaced) if you use a Paypal button. I didn't know until I had fully clicked through, and assumingly committed to buying that I would be using paypal. Make it obvious and maybe reinforce that it is secure and it will increase your odds of a purchase from someone who might otherwise go somewhere else more reputable.

Cool, thanks! I'll send that to our web guy.

I agree the "Add to Cart" button needs to be re-done. When I pushed it, I couldn't tell if I pushed it or not. I ended up re-clicking the button and before you know it I had 4 bags in my cart.

I think the biggest thing for me was when it went to the PayPal site and it never mentioned Coffee 4 Caring at all. It looked like I was paying my money to some guy name Travis with a hotmail account. Well since it looks like Britt and Matt are the two people involved with this site, I would be quite wary about sending any money to someone named Travis. You should change that email to something that reflects the Coffee 4 Caring name.
