So last summer the wife and I decided to stock a home bar. Went out spend a few hundred dollars on booze. I like Apple martini's so we bought apple sour puss. I'm new to making martini's, we had a handful of people over one night and got ####tered while make drinks with our new bar stash. A few days later we were making more martini's and my wife commented on how the sour puss looked lighter and was questioning if one of my friends watered down the sour puss. I was like no way doesn't make sense. My wife isn't a fan of the sour apple booze and once summer came to a close I stopped making martini's so the bottle slowly made its way to the back of our cupboard.
Fast forward to tonight. The wife and I are sitting at the bar of a local pub. She see's the sour puss and brings up how the bottle we have at home is way lighter and the one at the bar looks alot darker. So she again accuses my friend of watering down. I'm like whatever, I doubt it, its the same shade of green I'll prove it to you at home.
We get home, and I go to our cupboard to prove her wrong and dig around for the sour puss. The sour puss is completely clear. The bottle is about 40% full and there is not even a hint of green. I go to open up the bottle and the cap is very sticky while opening, like it hasn't been opened for awhile. So I honestly believe it hasn't been opened since the summer time.
I've personally never bought a bottle of Apple Sour puss in my life untill thos one. I've only ever ordered apple martinis at the bar. Is it normal for apple sour puss to turn completely clear? Growing up I watered down my parents booze, but it never turned completely clear before, is there a chance that watering down this type of booze makes it turn clear? Has anyone had something like this happen before? Is it a temperature storage problem? I've google'd it and didn't come up with anything. What would you do in this situation? It still smells like apple. I haven't tasted it yet. Would you keep the bottle and just use it? It seems really messed up to me.
I can dig that logic.... So should I continue to drink it?
And if it makes sense logically... why isn't the answer easier to find on google? Do people just buy sour puss and drink it asap? I can't be the only person this has happened, and question it if this is the norm, right?
Sourpuss? I don't know, let me ask my 15-year-old self.
At parties those things are usually emptied in less than 20 minutes.
I mean.. what? I, and my underage companions do not consume alcohol. I have no idea what this "alcohol" thing is all about. Perhaps reading the Bible will provide me with some insight to what this "alcohol" may be.

Sugar water is evaporating out of the drink, alcohol is staying. Cap is sticky from the sugar evaporating through it. My guess.
alcohol evaporates very easily. Sugar, as far as I know, does not. I seriously doubt that's what's happening. Does the sour puss taste the same? If so, the dye is breaking down somehow. If not, someone is drinking it and not telling you. is your wife a closet alcoholic?

Nah, she's an open alcoholic, hahahah.
In all seriousness, we bought a good variety of bottles. The sour puss was my choice, she hates that particular booze. I drink more then she does, we just wanted to have a stocked bar for entertainment purposes. Her drink of choice is vodka and tequila. If she was a closet alcoholic she could just pound back so many other types of alcohol and i'd barely notice. I don't see her drinking a bottle she doesn't like.
I honestly dont' know what straight sour puss would taste like. I could drink it right now and couldn't tell you if it tasted different the normal. We only bought the bottle because I like apple martini's.
It just seems really weird the bottle would be completely clear. It was at the back of the cupboard and I haven't noticed it for some time, so was just wondering if others have come across something like this before.

When he said "the wife and I", I assumed they were both lesbians. I didn't see the need to make fun of two girls drinking girlie booze.

Sour puss in martini's? Nonsense. Sour Jack's is the only acceptable application of the sour puss. Even that is a bit sketchy as I like my Jack's neat.
That being said, I have no idea as to the answer to your query, but my suggestion would be to throw that swill away. As such the urge for an Appletini should never again ravage the sacred confines of your home bar.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

I believe that is pretty much the standard life of any Apple product, its usually obsolete and needs to be replaced with a new version after a few months.

And like FanIn80, anything Apple is something to get drunk over .
