Tech forum possibly, but figured this was pretty big stuff- Some websites are blacking out serivce on Wednesday in protest of SOPA.
Wikipedia is already blocked out. Google is supposed to be next...

I'm worried. Once they go black, they may never go back.

With those two sites going black, I'm sure a lot of people will suddenly become aware and question it. I know I did when I visited Wikipedia tonight and thought, wtf?

Funniest thing about this has been the tweets of people freaking out.

SHOUTOUT TO ALL THE PPL WHO FINNA FAIL THEY PAPER DUE 2MRW CUZ WIKIPEDIA DOWN AND YOU GOTTA CALL JESSE JACKSON BITCH ASS TO GET IT BACK ON
Thousands and thousands of tweets just like this. The number of people that depend solely on Wikipedia never ceases to amaze me.
Craigslist, boingboing, and some other blogs are also taking part. I wish more sites were on board, frankly.

If anyone actually needs Wikipedia today, use
en.m.wikipedia.org .

It's a huge inconvenience, but if it gets the message out, I can watch my pron other ways.
If pron sites took part, then everyone would stand up and take notice...

Might I add that Java/mobile access are intentional:
Quote:
The Wikipedia community, as part of their request to the Wikimedia Foundation to carry out this protest, asked us to ensure that we make English Wikipedia accessible in some way during an emergency. The English Wikipedia will be accessible on mobile devices and smart phones. Because the protest message is powered by JavaScript, it's also possible to view Wikipedia by completely disabling JavaScript in your browser.
I've seen plenty of tweets in the last hour, people saying they've "outsmarted" Wikipedia by accessing from their phones.

Javascript is enabled on my browser and I can access Wiki just fine. I'm a genius.
