Chinese Food in the NW
Alright, so I'm lazy, not looking to cook anything at all today. Ordering some chinese food would be ideal this afternoon. And I'm sick of getting sub-par crap from the place near my house.
Where are some good Chinese places in the NW that deliver?

Peking Garden (Varsity) - don't know if they deliver. Another place in Edgemont is good, but I forget the name of it.

The New Dynasty in Crowfoot Centre has a good smorg. At least it did a few years ago. We used to go there a lot when we lived in Hawkwood. A lot of Chinese families frequented it too, which I took as a good sign. They do take out, but not sure about delivery.

It still had a good smorg the last time I was back at it, though I guess that was more than a year ago now. And for what it's worth I still thought it was pretty good after having lived in China, though I'm no Chinese family.
Another place in Hawkwood called Bill's Peking (or has maybe changed name) was really good last time I had it. Better than the one in Crowfoot. Maybe someone else remembers Bill's and knows what it's called now.

Bill's Peking House in Hawkwood has been called Hawkwood Palace for several years now. Most times the food is still very good though.

Mmmm salt and pepper squid. Also, if you do take-out instead of delivery and pay either cash or debit you save ten percent, or five percent if you do the credit card thing.

Is it just me, or do you have to ask for the 10% discount? Seems like they "forget" to ring in the discount any time I've paid cash at any Chinese restaurant in this city.

The Ginger House would have to be my fav NW chinese food restaurant. Lots of food for a fairly decent price (much more value and better food than the buffet at New Dynasty)

Depends on the restaurant. The Ginger House (see previous posr) has always rung it in for me without asking. Plus you get extra free food on top depending on the amount that you're spending. As with anything, it depends on the business.

We've ordered from Good Meal Peking House on Northmount and 40th Ave a few times and its been pretty good (I assume they do delivery since it's not actually a restaurant with tables; just a take-out place). However, they've recently changed their name to "Good Taste Peking House", so perhaps they have new owners...

If you like Dim Sum, here's a secret - Bobby Chao's in Edgemont has decent dimsum. Of course, being in Edgewong it's packed with a hundred Asians at any given time - so bring Kevlar vests. From a food perspective - good! From RMDJ's perspective - fatal!
I suspect it has decent dinner fare. More authentic dishes I suppose, although I'm sure they have
"that" menu too. I want to guess they don't deliver however.
Because it's so packed all the time, I call it: Bobby CHAOS.

I agree, I ordered from them on New Years eve. First time I have ever tried them, best Chinese food I have ever had!

I find that if you buy enough Blow it tends to come with some Ginger Beef and Sweet and Sour Pork as a throw in.
Wait...is this the confessional thread?....ah crap!

Hey, I'm curious. Coming from a Chinese family that has never ever ordered take-out before, I've always been curious what people order when they do get take-out or delivery.
What do you guys usually order?

There is a really good one in Beddington, near the Co-op and Madison's I think. I forget the name. It is WAY better than New Dynasty in Crowfoot and the one in Hawkwood IMO.
