The league is being run by one of the former executives of the NCHL so take it for what it is worth.

I would expect it to be a pretty decent league; the fact its run/sponsored by Winsport pretty much means if they say its at the COP rinks, then its gonna be at the COP rinks. No more getting shafted with late night drives to Okotoks.

I know they're still finalizing the details, but knowing you're playing at the same rink every time certainly makes things easier, especially if you live in the NW

Whatever happened with the NCHL's plan to build 4 rink sportsplex?

Score! $8 drop-in shinny on the international ice starting in Sept.

Our team has taken a leap of faith and signed up for the Winsport League.

Hopefully it will be a fun season. Here is the link to the website that went public today.

Pretty sure I can answer any questions you might have about the league. And I can also assure you that there is NO referee in chief for the league at this time.

For Goalie's in the league make sure you don't have a pro cat-eye, they are using Hockey Canada's rules which don't allow a pro cat-eye cage, I have to order a CSA approved cat-eye from the goaliemonkey.

3thirty I think the earliest start time was 7:00 and the latest was 10:15(don't quote me on the latest time)

I'm in this league. Division A or 1 or whatever it's called. We played our first game last night; Le Top Fromage. We won 4-3 (SO)

Amazing facility. I'm a 15 minute drive from the arena so it should be pretty convenient too. Gus Thorson (former Flames equipment manager) runs the hockey shop there. He's got some talent in the skate sharpening department.

Any other teams out there?

We stuck with the NCHL for this season..... however considering we've only had 1 ref show up 3 out of 4 games so far might swing our decision for next year.

I know you've only played one game, but how do you think the competition stacks up against the top division in the NCHL, CAHL, or AllCal?

Who knows what AllCal will be like this year, there was a big shuffle and only 3 teams are the same from last year.

Given that it's new I would say the competition isn't quite up to NCHL caliber just yet, but I bet more and more teams will make the switch. Prime time ice and always the same location.

Our team is comprised of a couple former junior players, 2 former Dinos players (2 years removed), and the rest former AA/AAA players, etc. A couple guys with very little experience as well though actually.

The team we played was strong competitively. Both teams were able to set up the play on a PP and slow things down. Shot and scoring chances were basically even I'd say.

Our team has a lot of new faces and despite being friends with them, it'll take a bit to get the full chemistry and organization together. We were struggling a bit with PP/PK lines as well as changes on the fly; what position to take, etc.

I will say Div A will be quite strong and competitive, however, I watched a few mins of the game after ours and the teams looked like they might have been a step down. Maybe they weren't even Div A so I dunno.

Hope that helps.

I got a pretty good idea what it'll be like, since 5 of the 8 teams came from the CAHL last year. I think AllCal will be a little faster, and likely the strongest league after Heritage.
