Default Laurent Broissoit

I was just looking at his stats, and he seems to have taken a step forward. His save % looks great, as does his win/loss record.

Does anyone ever get a chance to see this guy play?

Great? .914 isn't really anything to write home about. In relative terms (to the rest of the WHL) it's pretty good so maybe it's just a function of the league but on it's own I'd call it satisfactory.

I saw him in Brandon last week. He was very, very solid. He's obviously a long ways off but he's looking like a legit longterm prospect.

We likely won't see him being in the NHL until the age of 24 at the earliest due to him being a bit of a project.

A .914 SV% is above average for a CHL goaltender.

They are not playing behind NHL defenses here...we are talking about 16-19 year old players that are exposed to making errors on a shift to shift basis.

He is arguably a top three goaltender in the WHL at the moment and is younger than everyone with better statistics than him.

It would not shock me to see him get an invite to the summer evaluation camp for Canada in the offseason.

His numbers last year looked awful so I was a bit surprised at the pick.

He seems to have really stepped it up this year though, so I'll give the Flames scouts some credit for taking him.

To be fair, the Oil Kings weren't a great team.

I've been pretty impressed with Broissoit. He reminds me a little of a hybrid of Luongo and Hasek...he plays a typical Luongo butterfly game (without massively oversized pads), but seems to not mind making amazing arbitrary changes to his style. It isn't to the same degree as Hasek, but it does feel that way on occasion. Oh, and he seems to have a few stability issues. Like Luongo, if he gets beat on a softie, it goes downhill pretty fast from what I've seen.
