no one stays up late to watch ball? Tough start to the series, both Moyer and Lilly started off well and then Lilly was lit up by Sexon. The Jays made a game of it with a pair of solo HR's late in the game but ended up losing 4-3.

I love this west coast trip as it means baseball is on by the time I get home instead of missing half the game.

Jays had there chances and hit some balls hard but just didn't find the holes. Dissapointing effort by Lilly but nearly as awful as his starts earlier in the year. The Jays bull pen really did a nice job of holding the Mariners down after Lilly left the game - particularly Chulk who was very strong tonight.

I thought they were gonna come back to tie it there in the 9th. Oh well, dissapointing ending but a pretty good game to watch.

Pretty interesting game for a blowout.

Vernon Wells with 2 homers and 5 RBIs, Gaudin with a shaky start and now getting stronger as the game goes on, and Ben Franklin getting tossed for hitting Reed Johnson.

And we're only in the 3rd.

Well he has been Money for the BlueJays

Gaudin has some amazing stuff, if he ever wants to start on a regular basis, he needs to refine his control a little bit, and get another pitch which he uses more often (change up).

Ugh, what a painful game to watch. I like the Blue Jays, but the Mariners come before them in my mind. I live in Portland, so it's almost a local team to me and really the only one around here I have any interest in (JailBlazers? Heh, no thanks. )

I decided to watch the game as a break for this large program I'm writing that has been frustrating at best, only to see Franklin throw nothing but beachballs. Argh. Oh well. At least the Jays have a chance to make the playoffs. The Mariners ain't going anywhere this year. If they would ever start hitting, though, they'd at least be entertaining. I stopped watching the game after the fifth.

I must agree that Gaudin looked very sharp. I kept thinking during the game that I wish the Mariners had a pitcher that had anything close to his stuff. He could be a good pitcher for the Jays if he can keep this up.

This game is all but lost for me. Rubber match tomorrow! 7pm.

9-2 Jays now after 7.

Wow.........that was almost a massive choke job by the Jays in the bottom of the 9th.

Managed to hang on for a 9-7 win. Great start by the kid, but not really a huge confidence builder for the pen.

Either way, big win. Hope to see more of the same tomorrow.

Jays bats are quiet tonight. 1-0 Mariners in the 8th. But Rios just made a helluva throw from right to gun down Boone trying to score on a sac fly. What an arm!

that was Andre Dawson-like. Nice job to make up for the earlier gaffe. I'm tired, someone tell me how the game finishes.

Fart. Ken Huckaby bites ass at the plate. Its like having a pitcher batting for us - except a lot of pitchers can actually hit better than Huck.

And explain this to me....he lets Huck bat instead of pinch hitting Zaun. Then the very next inning he pinch hits Reed Johnson for Cat. Why did he let Huck bat at a key point in the game!?!?!

We need a better backup catcher.
