Blackhawks/Wild make big trade
The Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild made a big trade this evening:
To CHI
Joe Thornton
John-Michael Liles
$5.25 cap space
To MIN
Brenden Morrow
Dan Girardi
Morrow has played reasonably well for a rather lackluster Hawks squad, and he leads the league in hits. He will be a good addition to a strong Wild team, and Girardi is a very solid defensive D man.
On the other side, I could not pass up the chance to get a franchise centre like Thornton to play alongside Parise. I am hoping there will be some chemistry between the two. Also, Liles brings some offensive prowess to the blueline and should look excellent with Karlsson on the PP. He had better, because we just got a lot weaker on the back end, truth be told.
All in all, a very even trade IMO.
Thanks to Jiri for the negotiations and the deal!
