Don't forget that tonight's season finale goes for 2 hours, and so it starts an hour earlier than usual.

So what is everyone's prediction? Does the nuclear tipped missile hit and detonate? If so, where?

In a great interview on Charlie Rose on friday it was revealed that next season's plot (or at least how it begins) is closely tied with this year's resolution, so pay close attention.

Another interesting thing mentioned in the interview was that the show's writers and producers wanted the President to die in the attack on Air Force One but the network asked them to change it.

I head that they were going to be on Charlie Rose, but I missed it...feel free to elaborate more (after the episode, if it has anything to do with the finale) when you get a chance.

This is my first full season, I can't believe (probably all the Fox hype previous years turned me off) I missed 3 before that.

Its really only the second show in my life (Seinfeld was the first, back in the early 90's) that I would make sure I had cleared off to watch every week. Maybe 24 even moreso, because there are no repeats in its short Spring run.

Luckily, the first 3 seasons are out on DVD, so that should hold me through until Feburary and season 5.

Let hope next year Shaw has a Fox HD channel, so it doesn't have to be watched on Ch 132, or, on Global with all the crappy graphics they run underneath, nevermind skipping the scenes from the next week, to run the 20 sec news update (for the news that starts in 2 mins).

Onto the finale (6pm Ch 132, 9pm Global).
The trailer didn't give away too many secrets....I think the warhead is somehow sidetracked into an ocean or something, but whatever it does, p*ssed of the Chinese more, and thats the basis for next years season.

Does Tony die?
Where's Beroooz?
Is Mclennan Forester involved some more?
What other lose ends are tied up?

It would be a shame if they capture Marwhan and kill him off...he's a fantastic actor and plays the role so well. He's been able to escape (sometimes bending he laws of credibility in the show to do so), so I highly doubt he's killled.

The interview was very good, but a lot if it was about character issues in general (what do you think about your character, your process for acting, how you feel about acting on the show, etc., etc.) that didn't stick in my head.

Some things that did stick:

Keifer was absolutely dead-set against the ending of season 1 (I'll leave it unsaid just incase you've managed to avoid finding out about it) but now agrees that it was definately the right choice.

Keifer would go on playing Jack Bauer for the rest of his career, but worries that fans will find it hard to believe that these things keep happening to the same guy, so the show may have to move on to another lead.

FOX approached the producers to franchise the show a la CSI and Law & Order but they turned them down as they felt that there are only a handful of writers who can work with the show's unique format properly.

Initially FOX was demanding that each episode be resolved by the end of the hour rather than the cliffhanger format they currently use, but the producers refused to change.

They have lots of fans in the CIA and other intelligence agencies who will ofter give them advice on how to approach certain situations in a realistic manner.

In one scene in a past season they had to use a set worker's cellphone in a scene after the prop one broke. Evidently there was a split second shot of the phone showing the number which fans noticed and started calling. Rather than getting the phone shut off they just kept it going and people from the show were constantly chatting with fans about the show.

That's all off the top of my head. I'll edit if I think of anything else.

Fantastic episode, especially the last hour... incredibly fantastic ending.

Best show on TV hands down.

Did anyone else have the Knightrider intro playing in their head as Jack walked down the track?

Tonight's episode was the 1st one I've ever seen. I don't know why I avoided it for so long, but I regret not watching until now.

I didn't find it too hard to jump right in, by the end of the episode I had a good grasp on what was going on.

I look forward to next season.

Slow first hour, and not 100% thrilled with some of the leaps of faith to get the missle at the last possible moment.

But, that ending was genius. Two or three twists which you had no idea was coming.

Other thoughts:
I'd vote for Dennis Haysbert (Former president Palmer) for president/PM, just based on his performance. Incredible actor, and looking forward to seeing more of him in the first 3 seasons on DVD this summer. Lets hope he makes a return at some point in the future again.

Same with Keifer. After some neat, but fluff roles in movies (Stand by Me, Young Guns are all I can really remember), after watching just one season, his acting makes me truly belive he's Jack Bauer.

So which border is Jack going to? Mexico, or back "home" to Canada? What's his new name/identity going to be? Chinese back in the mix? I'm not so sure now, since they put that fire out with Jack Bauer's death.

Maybe he'll start up CTU Canada?

Him leaving down the tracks, now no longer going by the name and identity as Jack Bauer, reminded me a bit of the Littleist Hobo. You know he's going to be fine wherever he goes, but all the work he did didn't go rewarded properly, everyone he knew and touched will remember all his deeds and owe him great debts, and his legacy will last....but he had to move on and leave it all behind just like that, with no time to look back..including his own identity.

Sounds somewhat dramatic, but thats how they tried to play that up...walking into the unknown, with all he was, forced to be completely wiped clean and forgotten forever.

From all accounts, this was the best rated season for the show, however, nothing is signed for next year with Fox, and there is rumors it may go to NBC...I can't believe for the life of me that they let this show die altogether.

Edit: After some web research, Fox is in fact picking it up in 2006, Monday nights once again.

A long 8 months until we see Jack and 24 again.

Actually, I was left with the slow, piano song from The Incredible Hulk in my head. Maybe Jack will now go by the name David Banner.

Weird, I was picturing him leaving in slowmo. It would have been cool if there was a closeup shot of him putting on his sun glasses, the camera dollies around him as he begins to walk, and finally the dolly stops at the back of him as he walks away from the camera. Have some kick ass music play...*Jerry Bruckheimer military type* music as he walks away in slowmo. It would give you that "hero goes unrewarded, and his job is never done" feeling.
