Sorry if there is a thread on here already, I never come on this part of CP. I dont recall ever hearing anything about him. Looking at his stats so far this season looks to be decent and he's plays center. Where did he come from that he has only played 4 games?
Grew up playing with Dany Heatley in Calgary... was a former 1st rounder and had a solid rookies season before getting annhilated into the boards that year. Was never the same and ended up bouncing around the minors.
Kolanos' career has been limited by a serious concussion after Václav Varaďa hit him from behind and knocked him unconscious in a game on January 19, 2002. Varada received a major penalty and game misconduct as a result of his actions.[1]
Perhaps the most memorable moment in Kolanos' NHL career occurred during his rookie season on March 31, 2002 when, despite lingering post-concussion symptoms, he scored a penalty shot goal against all-star Patrick Roy, after which the now Hall of Famer reacted emotionally and was assessed a 10-minute misconduct and a game misconduct.[2]
Was a rising star, might have had the talent to be a superstar but I heard he was cocky when young and also the concussion really derailed his career. He was a first rounder who made some splashes early on but has bounced around the AHL for most of his career now.
Ok, Krys Kolanos had another 2 goals and 1 assist for the Heat tonight.
That puts him at:
7 goals, 6 assists, 13 points in 6 games
This is all after coming off about 22 months without playing hockey because of a serious injury.
He's currently on a PTO, at what point do the Flames consider signing him to an actual NHL two way contract so that they have the option of calling him up?
...or do they ever consider doing that?
I mean 13 points in 6 games is pretty impressive, especially since he didn't see game action for almost two full years.
I also heard that he leads the team in shots......he's only played 6 games! Other players have played 13!
That's pretty dominant.
He's 30 years old, but he's always had NHL skills, just a severe injury bug.
He's also a big fella, listed at 6'3" 206 lbs.
Is there a chance this guy could make a comeback?

Absolutely love having such natural hands on the Heat. He has really brought their offense to life.
Yeah, sounds like. Not just the offensive production, but what amazed me also was the part where he leads the Heat in shots on goal while having played less than half the amount of games.
When a guy is funneling and directing everything towards the net it's going to spark an offense.
