Exclamation Kevin Smith: Red State tour Calgary Aug 17

Not sure how many people are interested but Smith's Q&A's at the Jube have done pretty well IIRC.

Well now he's bringing his newest film Red State to Calgary for a screening and Q&A.

I'm actually looking forward to the Q&A more than the film. Very few horror genre films interest me. Hopefully it is better than Cop Out...

I snagged a VIP seat. $85 is pretty steep but Smith is always enjoyable.

Same here! We should have a CP section? sit together? I think the VIP section isn't really VIP... We'll still have to line up early for front row. And we'll get the DVD in October

My breakdown of the worth of the $85 (what I would pay for each)
Movie:$10
See Kevin Smith live: $50
DVD:$30
Plus $5 surcharge... It's reasonable.

It said row 1-9 so I'm guessing you'll need wristbands and from there it'll be GA in the front area.

CP section is a good idea. Anyone else going?

As a Kevin Smith fan, you know he only directed Cop Out...that wasn't his fault at all.

I want to go, but $$ is a bit tight now and I can't afford to for out the $50. Its a shame, I don't know what kind of release red State is going to get, so I might have to wait til it's out on DVD

Yeah, I've heard stories about Willis being an ahole from Day 1 and the struggles because the project originally involved Wahlberg and Ferrell who ended up doing The Other Guys.

That and a lot of the blame is lessened because Smith didn't even write it. Although Zack and Miri wasn't awesome either IMO.

I'm actually really looking forward to Smith's next movie, the name escapes me right now, which is going to be about hockey.

Same here. I've been trying all day to see if I could get anyone to go, but no luck. So I grabbed a single

I grabbed a single. Good thing I did early, because it's sold out.
I'll be the one in a Kevin Smith shirt and Clerks Etnies

Wow. Sold out theatre to watch a 2 hour movie and hear a Q&A. Good for Smith. I think he said he's pretty much already made his money back with the tour and the movie has only really seen limited release in the form of the special Q&A showings.

Either your math is wrong or you got more than you paid for ;-)

Okay - #REDmonton may have been my favorite Red State screening! Best reaction the "...giant cross on your front lawn..." line ever got.

Uggg...please put these idiots to shame tomorrow night for me please

Somebody posted on Facebook that they had been waiting line for 3 hours before the show.

If I have VIP, do you think there is any point in going early? I'm not sure if I want to be front row for the movie, but wouldn't mind being close for the Q & A. Decisions, decisions.....What do you guys think?

Being front row for the Q&A won't matter unless you want pictures. I'm sure they'll have mics set up at the sides like they do for most of his Q&A's. I'd personally rather get a good seat to enjoy the movie

Being a VIP, I'm stuck in the first 9 rows anyways.
