Default Vehicle Stars & CVS - Scam?

So I posted my car on Kijiji less then one week ago, these guys, Vehicle Star, call me and offering me this service where they list your vehicle on there websites. They asked for a $500 deposit, however they told me i would get it. they "have 4 people who are interested in purchasing a car like mine" Anyone here have any experience with this company?

Sounds like the usual scams on kijiji/autotrader sellers under a new name. RUN AWAY FAST!

Had a number of calls from a similar 'company' when I listed my car.
It's a scam.

At best they keep your $500, and list your car on kijiji, craigslist, and any other free site.

At worst, they keep your $500.

I listed my car on kijiji a little while ago and I got a few scams but not this company. I had offers just like it though, that never talk to you if you hang up, but will leave a message if you let it go to voice mail.

I did have the one where the guy needs to send you more money than the car is worth, but you have to send him money through Western Union first. I saw how long he'd keep it going for and I got about 80 emails back and forth before he stopped responding.

I would stay away from this...

There was an article in the Herald a while back about this

Quote:
Some private sellers are reporting that when they place a free classified advertisement for their vehicles, a company responds, saying it knows buyers interested in the vehicle type. The company promises to match these buyers with the seller for a fee, which has been reported as ranging from $400 to $500.

Ask them if its alright if you record this conversation for your protection and theirs. You also don't have a credit card and you insist that you need to meet them at their offices before you make a decision, and that you want pictures of them.
