Default LAST GAME of the season: Bombers at STAMPEDERS

Last game of the regular season on a chilly afternoon at Mc Mahon Stadium. Will this be the last home game for the Stamps this season or will they host a playoff game against the BC Lions next week? Today is a crucial game for both the Stampeders and the Blue Bombers as they are both fighting to host a playoff game. Whoever wins here will have to watch the other important game and hope their division rival lose the game. Here's the Western Division scenario. Since the Eskimos already won the game against the hapless Saskatchewan Riders last night, the best position can make at the end of the regular season is the 2nd place. They MUST win this game and hope for the Als to beat the Lions in BC. Lose this game and they end up in 3rd place. If BC wins tonight even if the Stamps win today's game, BC gets the bye and will watch the Eskimos hosting the Stampeders. If Calgary wins and BC lose, it is going to be Stamps hosting the Lions. Calgary lose and BC lose, the Stamps will be playing in BC Place.
As for the Eastern Division: Als gets the tiebreaker over the Bombers. Montreal and Winnipeg are 2-2 against each other this season but on those two Winnipeg losses, Montreal beat them by combined total of 18 points while Winnipeg beat the Als by combined 3 points. So, Winnipeg must beat the Stamps and hope for the Als to lose vs BC in order to get the bye. Als on the other hand only have to win the game against BC Lions or hope for the Winnipeg lost.

OFFENSE:

QB Drew Tate passed his test on the two games he started. He played so well in those two games and he seems to get everyone on offense to be pumped up. Tate was not perfect but he does his job to win the games. Today's game will be a big test for him though as Winnipeg Blue Bombers are probably the best in the league. Their DLine consisted of former Stamps Odell Willis are very hungry to eat the opposing QB alive. This is when the running game led by Jon Cornish should step up more and help their QB.

Calgary nominated the following offensive players for the CFL award. R Nik Lewis as their Most Outstanding Player, RB Jon Cornish as their Most Outstanding Canadian and OL Stanley Bryant as their Most Outstanding Linemen. All nominees are voted by the seven local media and one coaching staff.

WR Johnny Forzani had a great game last week against the Montreal Alouettes. He hauled in 6 passes for 108 yards and 2 TDs and that earned him the CFL's Canadian Player of the Week. RB Jon Cornish carried the ball 15 times for 71 yards and scored 2 majors. QB Drew Tate tallied his first 300 yards passing in his CFL career (333 yards and 2 TDs).

WR Ken-Yon Rambo and RB LaMarcus Coker will be inserted in the lineup against the Bombers today to replace Landan Talley and Joffrey Reynolds.

DEFENSE:

Calgary defense played well last week against the Alouettes' high potent offense especially late in the game when it counts. LBs Robert McCune and Juwan Simpson had a great game against the Montreal's rushing attack. DBs Brandon Smith, rookie Quincy Butler played well against Richardson & the gang. We didn't really hear much of Tisdale and Raymond which is good maybe because Calvillo was not throwing towards their way of those 2 DBs did a great job covering their receivers. They will have to do a better job against the Bombers receivers today. Only good thing about it is they playing defense against the Bombers' backup QB Alex Brink instead of the starter Buck Pierce.

DB Brandon Smith is the Stamps nominee for Most Oustanding Defensive Player while DB/S Demetrius Morley is the Stamps nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie.

SPECIAL TEAM:

The Special Team I think played well all game against the Als but they have one hiccup during the game. It was when Montreal scored a touchdown on fake punt. P Burke Dales had an average 50.1 yards per punt and K Rene Paredes scored 7 points including 1 field goal.

No surprise here. Larry Taylor is the Stamps nominee for the Most Outstanding Special Team player.

GO STAMPS GO!!!!

Game starts at 2:00PM at McMahon Stadium

Okay, i don't understand why Winnipeg's got the tiebreaker win when the scores between Montreal and Winnipeg for this season are:

1st game: Montreal won 27-15
2nd game: Winnipeg won 25-23
3rd game: Montreal won 32-26
4th game: Winnipeg won 26-25.

1st tiebreaker: game won between two teams which is tied 2-2. I thought the 2nd tiebreaker is by Montreal won 18 points in those wins while Winnipeg won by 3 points.

Winnipeg just scored a TD with 3:26 left in the 2nd quarter. 24-7 Calgary. Crap Taylor fumbled the ball but recovered by the Stamps. Whew!!

Not good. Winnipeg woke up and scored 2 TD. 43 seconds left in the 2nd quarter. Calgary is still ahead 24-14. Coker fumbled the ball with 34 seconds left. WTF!!

Good start by the Stampeders and they were ahead by 24-0. Then mistakes, penalties and turnovers gave the Bombers some life. 1st Winnipeg TD, Stamps defense seemed like they stopped the Bombers on their 2nd and goal... problem is there was an offside penalty on Stamps defense that gave the Bombers 2nd and 1. They ended scoring a TD. On 2nd Winnipeg TD, Drew Tate throw intercepted by Johnson, then a few plays later somebody from defense missed their assignment on Winnipeg 2nd and 20 and let Alex Brink ran for over 20 yards untouched. Then LaMarcus Coker fumbled the return and Winnipeg ended up scoring a field goal. All this Winnipeg's score came in the 2nd quarter.
Calgary is ahead by 24 points and the Stamps pretty much abandoned the run again. I didn't see a lot of Cornish in the 2nd quarter. Come on Stamps, go for the kill!!

Tate suddenly can't hang onto the football lol. What gives? At least we got 3 points out of that drive.

as bad as the Stamps have looked, keep in mind they played the last 2 quarters against the wind. Hope they can dominate again with the wind in the 4th

I don't like that call one bit, but going by the rules it's a penalty. Could be the turning point.

Talk about a dwindling lead. That's a funny word, dwindling. We are dwindling.

another TD by Winnipeg after the Stampeders' mistake. That was an unnecessary hit that gave the Bombers another chance to score a major. Only ahead by 3 now.
