Yah, I don't know fotze. I had my Credit Card "compromised" near Christmas time. I must admit, though, that I was impresssed with my card company and bank. They told me a couple of days before Christmas....but sent it on a courier, received it within a day or 2.

Same deal about the information, however. No letting me know. Buty they did go through my last (approx) 10 purchases to see if they were ok. I guess they can't reveal the info b/c of the potential of a confrontation of some sort - i.e. someone goes into the store and yells, or someone vandalizes the store, etc etc...

I'd seriously light up your bank or whoever is in charge of your card.

Say you want to keep moving up the chain of command to speak to someone who WILL tell you which store it was so you NEVER go their again. Make it known that since this is the 3rd time this has happened you wont be going through this inconvience again and you will switch banks to someone who is more cooperative with their customers.

Things like this annoy me beyond all belief.

Fotze change banks. That is unacceptable for them to act in such a manner. Hell I switched from CIBC because they would charge me 13 dollars a month for the cheapest possible account while TD offered me the account for free and a bonus thanks for coming on board. And the teller at TD is freaking hot.

Is it that little store called "Samie's"? Years ago I lived in your neighborhood and I recall it being one very sketchy place.

I don't want to date myself but a crooked-out Interac was not yet on the menu. They did sell me the occasional gut-wrenching burrito though, and boxes of KD with a lot of dust on 'em.

Why do you not like superstore normally?

Aside from the fact that it is always overcrowded and the service tends to be ... lacking?

I dunno. Superstore just hasnt ever given me a reason to shop there. Seems to me it's basically a poor mans co-op with a poor mans zellers attached.

Closest I ever come to a Superstore is the Extra Foods in Airdrie, though that store is being sold and converted to a Sobeys as they are building a real Superstore out there this year.

Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I try not to use my debit card for purchases anywhere.

If someone steals your credit card info, you're protected. If someone steals your debit card info, I don't believe you are.

I was in Toronto last fall, having a good time until my phone rang. The person on the other end (a TD rep) called to see if I had withdrawn $1,200 a couple hours earlier. No, I had not, I told her.

Immediately my debit card was cancelled, and I had to find a TD bank to get a new one. They told me that an investigation would commence immediately, and that I'd likely be reimbursed within a couple of weeks.

6 weeks later, I still had not heard from the bank, so I called to find out what was up. They told me that either
a) My pin was too easy to guess
or
b) I had (at some point) given out my pin to someone, and that they were the likely culprits.
or
c) I was careless when punching in my pin, and basically gave it away.

Either way, it was partially my fault & therefore, I was S.O.L.

Naturally, I was furious. I went through the logic. I said

a) My pin was 4255. I was not born in '42 or '55 or 4255. My parents were not born in those years either. Its not my phone number, my girlfriends phone number, or anyone else's. My sin, my AHC, my DL, none of them have a 4255 in there. In fact, it was a random number. How can you get any more random with 4 digits to work with?

b) I have never given out my pin to anyone (ok, my girlfriend knows it, but I didn't tell them that because I knew that she was not the 'culprit')

c) When entering my pin, I cover the thingie with one hand to quash an overhead electronic surveillance attempt, and to block people in front or beside me from seeing. As for me being able to see, I have to leave the back side open so that I can punch in the number. The only way someone sees the pin is by looking over my shoulder. How the hell am I going to know that someone is looking over my shoulder? Mount some mirrors on my chest? (She laughed at that suggestion, which only made me madder).

I then demanded to speak to the ombudsman, and got the phone number. I spoke to the lady in his office and went through the same rant. I then told her that $1,200 may not be a big deal to a multi-million or billion dollar corporation, but to me its a big effing deal. Its already been 6 weeks, and I NEED that money.
I went on to tell her to contact my bank, get my balance prepared for withdrawl, I am closing my accounts & I'd be talking to the media about my plight.
She told me that she couldn't have my balance prepared for withdrawl on such short notice (I think I had about $6,000 in that bank) to which I responded with even more anger.

"What the hell? You guys, with your easily compromised cards, lose $1,200 of my money, then you pin it on me, and now you wont give me the rest of my meagre savings? What the hell kind of bank am I dealing with" "Rah rah rah... I'm p*ssed off... I'm going to the media. I want my money"

She listened to me rant for about 5 minutes, then told me that she'd call me back.

10 minutes later, I got a call from the manager at my branch telling me that the money would be reimbursed within 24 hours, and that they were sorry for the inconvenience.

I tyry to use my debit card and it's been cancelled. Aparently I've used it at a place that's been 'compromised'. But once again they will never tell me a thing. They won't say this place so that I can avoid it.

Can anyone explain why they refuse to give this information, this is the 3rd time my card has been stolen (without actually being stolen). I'd really like to know if it's that shady convenience store down the street so I can roast some marshmellows tonite.

Doesn't help that I have to brave goddamn superstore to get a new card.

Any of you thinking of switching to them, this is one of those drawbacks to paying 'no' fee's.
I used to be a PCF customer, I have now been with TD for a year, my PCF account has a $0.02 balance and is only used to collect online sportbooks winnings which are immediately withdrawn as soon as I get them.

There has been a big rumour going around that some of PCF's employees have been stealing money out of client's accounts. Now, that rumour was in no way confirmed but I do know FOR SURE that some of my friends/acquaintances have had money mysterically missing from their accounts even though a couple of them never use Interac and only use the debit card to withdraw cash at CIBC bank machines. So you can draw your own conclusions here, I did and I opened an account at TD, they don't charge fees for a basic chequing account if you keep $1500 in it at all times, only downside is $12 for 50 blank cheques instead of free cheques at PCF. Also in the unlikely event that something goes wrong, you can actually walk into your branch and talk to a live person, which is something PCF lacks.

And as Max said up there, TD tellers are generally female, between the ages of 20-26, and very easy on the eyes

I'm no luddite by any means, but I've never been a fan of debit cards. One of my pet peeves actually is people who use debit cards for a $5 purchase. Either use credit cards for large purchases where I can get something for my purchase, and I don't have to pay for a few weeks, or use cash, seeing as how everybody takes it, the system for receiving it doesn't break down, and there is no service charges for taking it.

And as for PCF...bah...worst of a bad lot. Only reason I'd even look @ them is for what rewards they give, and it's not worth the hassle or bad customer service (doesn't CIBC actually run PCF? I know I moved accounts from there years ago to TD)

I don't buy much at sammies except newspapers, but the women there is so funny.
The first ten times I bought something she gave me too much money back. I 'd correct her and now I can leave the money on her counter and she doesn't even come and check it.
Now heel you guys, don't go hanging around the store making random money on your purchases.

Get a B of M debit card, $4.00 a month if I use it less than ten times and I have three accounts on it ,cheq, save and US $ and they are in every Safeway and small town in Western Canada. well maybe
